Lichtenstein's skills run in the family. Her great aunt, Etta Weimar, was the famous Romanian card reader to both kings and queens. A native of New York City, Lichtenstein was educated in Europe where she pursued the study of tarot and astrology. She returned to New York in 1974 and has lived in Greenwich Village ever since, dispensing advice whether requested or not.
Lichtenstein's monthly and weekly astrology columns are carried in newspapers across the country. She is a member of the National Council of Geocosmic Research and often lectures on both astrology and tarot.

I'm a Capricorn, Libra rising, born Dec. 26, 1967, 12:14 a.m., Staten Island, N.Y. I wrote to you back in May 2000 about some problems I was having in my personal and professional life in and around D.C., and how I wanted to go back to New York. You were kind enough to say "keep in touch," so here I am. Well, I'm back in New York, got a job, got an apartment. I'm seeing my family often, reacquainting myself with the area, etc., and I still feel ennui. I'm wondering if you could offer some celestial reasoning for this (it also could be the effects of Sept. 11, 2001). I keep wondering if a romantic relationship will ever be a part of my life, or if I am one of those people who is forever on their own, wanting the happiness that others seem to have, but not knowing how, when, or where to get it. So as we saw before, you have sun and mercury in cap, venus in scorpio, mars in aquarius and libra rising.
I expect that the events of 9/11 are playing some roll, but as far as your personal chart is concerned, Mars is currently transiting your hosue of fun and romance. If you are feeling bored, you need to get up and out while the energizing Mars effect is still in place (until Dec 9). Uranus and Neptune are also sitting in that sector indicating that surprises are in store here. I suggest that you consider taking a creative course or doing some artistic activity - even going to a museum, theater etc can activate the Mars for you.
Going out on a limb here, I would say that in early January, as Mars passes into your 7th house of relationships, you will be even more inspired to find your soulmate. But plant the seeds now!
Turning a Corner?
Hi, Charlene! I have had a rough couple of years -- separated from husband in 1999 and finally divorced in Feb 2001. Experienced an up-and-down relationship with new person -- finally pulled the plug for my own sanity last March. Started a new, very challenging job in August, 2000. For the last several months I have just hunkered down and concentrated on my job and reviving my emotional well-being. I am feeling REALLY good these days.....any chance that the stars are aligning for a new (and healthy) love?

You have sun in gemini, moon in capricorn, mercury in gemini, venus in leo and mars in taurus. Possibly cancer rising.
You are a very friendly person but may have trouble expressing your true emotions. In love, you are generous and may expect to be a person's center of attention. You act slowly but once you get moving, you are unstoppable.
I see romance heating up throughout Novemebr, waning after the 23rd as the sun turns your attention to work. But at the end of December, you will refocus on relationships and I see great possibilities there - if you go out there and seek!
Mars is currently transiting your "sex" house so there may be some interesting possibilites there....

Need Direction:
Probably won't be able to chat live, so submitting question early. Need your help with career direction.
I am up in the air in career direction and I would really like to get some focus on my life. After I turned thirty I felt this impulse to pursue maybe a computer direction, but I didn't follow it and now I just feel stagnant. I also felt it was time to get over my issues with math, but haven't really had the time to work on changing that. Honestly, I seem to be easily sidetracked and discouraged, and my brain doesn't seem very disciplined.
So my question is whether there are any particular directions that seem better for me than others? Is my purposelessness right now just a phase, or do I have some faults in my horoscope that I need to take into account? Am I ever going to be able to bite the bullet and become more detail oriented and maybe do better with mathematics, or am I focusing on something that just isn't me and I need to accept that? Does my chart indicate any fields better/not better to pursue and timing?
Lots of questions, I know, but I really could use your help. I am not in a job right now, but I know that what I used to do, accounting, isn't for me. I can be outgoing, but basically I am not a people person.

Well, you have sun in leo, mercury in virgo, venus in cancer, mars in sag and possibly cancer rising which places Aries on the cusp of your 10th house of career.
Wow! You are very pioneering in your professional pursuits. I would say you should explore any field that enables you to make your own success. You would probably like ot be your own boss or have one who is very hands-off. Sales may be good, so is the military. Combined with your Leo sun, maybe something in the arts or theater. You may not consider yourself a people person - Aries on the top of your chart likes to take charge and can therefore be a solitary warrior - but consider soemthing that gives you the opportunity to communciate details to others (Virgo in the 3rd) and work in an interesting space around interesting or foreign people (Sag in Mars in the 6th hsoue of work).
Hope all these little snippets mean something to you and help you narrow down a path.

I hope you can help to shed some light on my situation. I'm an Aries, born 3/31/71 in Southeastern PA around 6am. Over the past year or so, I've had an unusually hard time dealing with the people close to me--lots of hostility and fighting with my family, strained/ruined friendships, etc. To be sure, some of those friendships needed to go, but it just seems that I've lost a lot of patience and tolerance lately, and that there's a lot of stress in my personal life that wasn't there before (at least, a different sort of stress). I just came off a brutal, spirit-crushing Saturn return... or is it still lingering? Could this be the vestiges of it? Will my life settle down soon? It's not even just my personal relationships, but my career, my love life, seemingly everything. Is this typical for Aries these days? Thank you very much for your help!
Charlene Lichtenstein: Oh those Saturn Returns! I should think that by now it should dissipate. Let's check your planets for some direction:
You have sun in aries, moon in gemini, mercury in aries, venus in pisces, mars in cap. Possibly Aries rising which shows a great deal of planets transiting your 8th house of deep issues, sex, taxes, psychiatry. Deep stuff that are coming to the fore and that you are dealing with.
You have several "mutable" signs in planets (sag, pisces, gemini and virgo are the mutable signs) which are being hit by transformative and volcanic Pluto in sag. It takes a while for Pluto to move on and in the meantime, relationships transition. The good thing to know is that Pluto brings change where change is needed. We may fight it, but it will happen anyway and change our landscape. Pluto sweeps out the old so the new can have a fresh start. You are being hit emotionally - the moon and venus - so as much as anything, I see this stress as an emotional reaction to events. Perhaps as you recognize how you are reacting to people, you can harness these changes so there are less traumatic and stressful.

I wrote to you a long time ago about the fact that my husband and I would be relocating after his medical residency -- you asked that I write back once I knew where we might be moving so that you could run a relocation chart for us. I was hoping that the offer still stands!
After several interviews, we are currently leaning towards an employment offer from a group in Spokane, Washington. We like the group and the area, but I'd love to hear what a relocation chart says.

Charlene Lichtenstein: Well thank you for trying again - I get so many questions each show and there are quite a few that I cannot get to.
It's nice to know that people are persistent - I try to get to everyone eventually!
So, you have sun in scorpio, moon in leo, mercury in scorpio, venus in libra and mars in virgo. Possibly Sag rising which places friendly gemini in your house of relationships.
You are generally an intense and strategic person (sun) with a sharp mind and a concise and careful manner of speaking (Mercury). Yet emotionally you are actually fairly laid back (venus) chatty, flirtatious and charming. You may appear to be more disinterested than you really are in someone.
Currently Saturn is transiting your 7th house of relationships which can mean difficulties finding someone but it can also mean that you gravitate to older and more established partners. You need to learn your lessons in love and make these lessons work for you. Saturn redirects in Feb 02 so put yourself to work for the next few months and reap the benefits in Feb.
With Pluto sitting in your first hosue, I would say that meeting new people and beginning new projects will be life transforming. That is where I would place my efforts if I were you. Try new things, break out of your rut.

Recently I had the opportunity to have my emotions played with by an old flame. My sun is in Aquarius (02/13/74) and her's is in Scorpio (11/1/73). My moon is Scorpio and her's is Capricorn. I don't understand her at all. It's like she's going through all this trouble to see me again but she's acting like she doesn't want me. Can you give me somekind of insight on what's going on? Oh, and can you tell me about any future occupational prospects on the way if there are? Thanks.
Charlene Lichtenstein: So let me understand this - she has sun in scorpio and moon in capricorn. You have sun in aquarius and moon in scorpio.
Moon in cap folks are deathly afraid of appearing vulnerable. They do not open up easily and can be perversely cool when they need to be hot. Her scorpio sun nature can be secretive anyway but it can be a double whammy with that moon placement. She has venu (the planet of love) in sag which is a free and honest placement. It may be difficult for her to settle down because she loves her independence.
In fact, this venus placement is well meshed with your sun in aquarius which can also be fairly independent and difficult to pin down. And you have venus in capricorn - what a match with her moon!
SO there is a great deal of connection but she needs to get more intouch with her cap moon and she should try to understand how it manifests. She may not realize that she is sending off these vibes.

I am a sucker for being in love.
I have no problem meeting men, but haven't met someone special (who has worked out) in a very long time. I recently dated a 12/12/61 guy who still hasn't severed the ties to his marriage, and still has a current-ex-wife in the picture. I think it's because he's a Sag and doesn't want to commit elsewhere!
Should I just give up and focus on home, career, friends? Or is now a good time to keep my mind and sights open for love? (Female, born 9/27/65, in New Jersey at 6:10 a.m.)

You have sun in libra, mercury in libra, venus in scoprio and mars in scorpio. Libra rising.
With venus in scorpio, I would say that you love too deeply and too passionately for the men you are attracted to. Your 12/12/61 guy not only has sun in sag but also in venus and moon in aquarius. Can't get anymore independent and footloose as that!
With all that libra energy, you are attracted to attractive men but don't fall for just a pretty face! You have Aries on the cusp of your 7th house of relationships which indicates that you are attracted to independent types. Aquarius on the cusp of the 5th of romance indicates that you gravitate to romances where the other person is cool and distant.
But all is not lost! Recognizing these tendencies will help you sound your internal alarm. Astrology works best when we use it as a guide to change and modify our behaviors. It is not fate. Use it to your advantage.

If you so-called "fortune tellers" could really tell the future, then why was there NOT one who warned about 9-11?
Charlene Lichtenstein: I can understand your frustration.
Astrology does not predict the future. Don't believe anyone who tells you that they can do that - if so, ask them for the winning lottery numbers for tomorrow and let me know too.
Astrology is best used as a guide map so you can plan your own future. There are some heavy aspects going on now which suggest earth changing events, but I can't tell you exactly where or when these events will take place. I spoke of these aspects early in 2001 in my starbite intro to my show.
I truly wish there was a way to predict exactly when and where and therefore enable people to avoid these tragedies. But we cannot predict these things.
I am truly sorry for your loss.

Charlene Lichtenstein: You have sun in gemini, moon (emotions) in scorpio and venus (love) in cancer. You give the appearance of being very breezy and friendly and platonic but in love you feel quite deeply and passionately.
He has sun in leo, moon in taurus and venus in cancer. He has a very jovial personality but is quite serious and sensitive in love. He had steady and loyal emotions too.
There are great connections between the two of you between your two sun signs and with your two moons. You are both very sensitive and possibly moody in love (two cancers) and if you understand this, you can avoid stepping on each others emotions. The pull between you is great - I see great possibilities here.

You are very independent and may come off cool and distant in love. You also gravitate to unusual types in relationships. Mars in capricorn indicates that you hesitate before you act - you may be afraid of making a mistake or receiving rejection. You need to recognize and overcome that.

You have sun in capricorn, moon in taurus, mercury in cap, venus in aquarius and mars in libra. With all that cap energy, you are less confident and may be unduly pessimistic. With moon in taurus you are steady and devoted emotionally. So it must be especially difficult to go through what you are going through now.
But -
The nice thing about capricorn placements is that as we get older and experience the bumps in life, we get stronger and better! In fact, you may find that this will prove to be a very good experience for you because it will show you that you can love, lose that love, and find a new, better love!
I don't have your time of birth - if I did I could see what is going on in your 7th house of relationships.
