Rob Zombie
Hard Rocker and King of the Dark Side
Tuesday, October 28, 2003; 3:00 p.m ET
Rob Zombie has been carving out a strange legacy of music in the world of rock, beginning in 1985 with the formation of his brainchild, White Zombie, a bizarre hybrid of hardcore/punk aggression mixed with New York City "art-damage" and "hard rock thunder." Add to that his love of horror/sci-fi films, trash culture from the hot rod set and pretty much all things on the dark side. (Rob Zombie Web Site)
Rob Zombie, the man obsessed, was online Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. ET.
The King of the Dark Side will talk about his music career from "La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1" up to his "Greatest Hits: Past, Present & Future;" the movie he wrote and directed, "House of 1000 Corpses," now available on DVD along with a line of action figures, Halloween masks and T-shirts plus the sequel, "House of 1000 Corpses 2;" the release this week of his first horror anthology comic book series, "Rob Zombie's Spookshow International" and a new graphic novel he is currently working on.
A transcript follows.

Washington, D.C:
Are you always a scary guy?
Or do you ever show a cute, tender side, like with a female for example?
Rob Zombie: I only have one side... the dark side. Why waste your time showing girls a tender side, they only dig the evil anyway.

Washington, D.C.:
Did you intentionally make Dr. Satan look like the crypt-keeper, from 'Tales From the Crypt', or was that just a coincidence?
Rob Zombie: No. That the first time anyone has ever even said that. Dr. Satn is suppose to look like The great grand father of Otis. and otis is suppose to look like Johnny Winter. So I guess Dr. Satan is suppose to look like an ancient Johnny Winter.

Somewhere, USA:
Rob, ever think about growing up? Or is that just over rated?
Rob Zombie: I alway find that question funny. Somehow if you become successful at something you enjoy then you never grew up. I guess the same goes for all sports figures, astronaunts, cowboys etc.
_______________________
Hyped, UP:
Totally dug your "American Made Music to Strip By". Any more remix albums in the works?
Rob Zombie: I don't think so. I think White Zombie was the first hard rock band to even do a full remix album back in the day. I tried to carry on the tradition with American made Music but now I feel the remix album idea is old.

Alexandria, Va.:
Senor Zombie:
I dig your music and think you rock, but gotta wonder ... do any birds or small creatures live in your hair?
Rob Zombie: No they live up your ass.
_______________________
Fairfax, Va.:
You have quite a talent for illustration. Any plans to release a book of your work?
Rob Zombie: I thought about this many times. But it seems like I can't find the time at the moment. But I will definitely get to it in the future.

Norfolk, Va.:
Hey Rob,
What are you going to be for Halloween?
Rob Zombie: I am going as Lon Chaney Jr. from The Mummy's Hand.

Hi Rob -- Thanks for dropping by the Post.
We're lifelong fans of yours over at
ReallyScary.com. You mentioned in a
recent interview that the sequel to House
of 1000 Corpses would be a bit darker.
Can you tell us what sort of differences to
expect? And most important -- will Baby be
back?!?
Rob Zombie: Yes, Baby will be back in action. It is hard to talk about a film that doesn't exsist yet, but it will be a much darker rougher movie. Otis and company are really shown as the evil folks that they are. No joking around in this one. it will make the first one look like When Harry met Sally.

New York, N.Y.:
How will you feel many years from now when you're on an elevator and you hear the Muzak version of one of your songs?
