Bon Jovi's latest album, "Bounce," may have tanked as far as sales go, but the band still has a large and devoted following. The middle-aged New Jersey rockers have sold-out many of the dates on their current tour, including their show at MCI Center on Sunday, March 9. If you were one of the lucky ticket holders, we want to know your reaction to the show. Submit your Bon Jovi concert review. Let us know what you thought about the concert and whether the band still has it. Tell us what you liked and what you could've done without. We’ll post new reviews as we receive them.

Baltimore, MD:
Bon Jovi has definitely "still got it." The show was amazing, the band had endless energy for more than two hours, they played song after song without long breaks in between, and the crowd loved it. I've never seen an entire arena get into a show as much as they did at last night's performance.
:
Germantown, MD:
I loved it!!! I have been a Bon Jovi fan for many years, and this was my second time seeing them. They have such amazing energy, they really got that whole stadium going. One of the highlights was Richie Sambora's singing "I'll Be There For You", sans Jon. Their new stuff is okay, but they played a lot of old favorites for those of us old fans. It was great, hats off to them for still rocking so hard.
:
Rockville, Maryland:
Bon Jovi put most 20 something bands to shame! They sprinted 10 miles and never got off track--simply amazing, extreme high energy show. The thing I could have done without were those that showed up thinking it was 1989! Acid wash, woody wood pecker hairdoes, groupies (don't they know or care that they are married men), and lack of the use of soap was a little to commonplace last night for my liking. They should pass out free samples of Bon Jovi deoderant so the rest of us that have progressed from 1989 to 2003 can better enjoy the show.
:
Arlington, VA:
I was in attendance at the MCI Center to see Bon Jovi last night. I have always been a big fan, who isn't? I am known for requesting "Living on a Prayer" and playing air guitar and dancing like a rockstar when the DJ plays Bon Jovi. So when my girlfriends saw that he was coming to Washington, we all agreed that we HAD to go! We all enjoyed the show up to a point. As the encore began, Bon Jovi strolled on to stage...in a "Gore/Lieberman Campaign Staff 2000" T-Shirt. My jaw dropped. Who does this dude think he is making a political statement on my time? I came to see him play his music and he is wearing a T-shirt in direct insult to the President of the United States IN the nation's capitol. I think it would have been different if he had a "No War" T-shirt, but the fact that he was "Living in the Past" and imposing his political views didn't go down so well. Instead of dancing to Bad Medicine, I was stuck thinking Bad T-shirt, buddy! The tone of the concert seemed to be a bit more somber, even as he ended the encore with a cover of "Shout". Thanks for giving me the opportunity to say "Never Again" to JBJ!
:
Alexandria, VA:
Does Bon Jovi still have it? You bet! From mid-80s favorites to new tracks off the current album, this band knows how to keep its audience revved up -- and it doesn't hurt that its namesake is still so easy to look at. Toss in Richie Sambora doing an amazing rendition of "I'll Be There For You," and you have one very satisfied customer!
:
Arlington, VA:
Bon Jovi rocked the house last night. They are as exciting and energetic as ever, and really appear to enjoy themselves out there. The old classics were all there, along with a great mix of new stuff. My only wish would have been for a stronger encore. They performed all their great songs early, and really had nothing left for a powerful encore except Bad Medicine (don't get me wrong, it's a great song). But what is up with ending with Shout? Despite this, it was well worth the $75 ticket price to relive some of my youth and see a fabulous band. Keep rocking Bon Jovi!! (And whoever it was who pinched Jon towards the end... you had every woman there screaming with envy.)
:
Centreville MD:
What was wrong with Jon's throat last night?
:
Arlington, VA:
Ooh baby - they still got it! Jon and co. stuck to what they do best - lots of energy, and their classic songs. They only did a few songs from Bounce, which was a good thing in my opinion. They started the show off right with Bounce and covered all stages of their career. I was psyched they played Runaway! Can't wait to see them again!
:
21113:
No question. As stated, for them being middle aged rockers they put these young bands, solo singers to shame. They are very professional on stage and are good to their fans. I have seem them every time they have come to town and would continue to do so.
"Bon Jovi Rocks"
:
Alexandria VA:
I'd never been to a BonJovi concert before last night, but I was impressed. Good music kept the place "bouncing", and his special effects are awesome.
Glad I went !
:
Colonial Beach, Virginia:
The concert was awesome, unbelievable. Bon Jovi was better, sounded better in concert than I have ever heard them on any TV special. The crowd was a good mix of above 40 people like myself (I took my 19 year old daughter) and young people. Bon Jovi's performance and the musical talent of all the band members were amazing, as Richie Sambora always is. It was a very, very good show. And the Goo Goo Dolls opening for them wasn't too bad either.
:
Arlington, VA:
Great concert - they definitely give 110%. Needless to say my voice is shot today. I was a little turned off by his Gore/Lieberman shirt. With everything going on in the world, I think people in DC were interested in escaping reality for a night to just hear good rock-n-roll-- and not see ANYTHING political. However, freedom of speech is what makes this country great. Overall though -- i had a blast. Great concert.
:
Baltimore, Maryland:
I loved the show as did my six year old son who was so excited to be there. His reaction was priceless to seeing his favorite band and guy... Jon Bon himself and all of the special effects on stage.
I have been a fan since 1984 and think this is about my 12th concert as I rarely have missed them when they are in the area.
Thank you again guys... for such a great time!
:
Washington, DC:
Fabulous!
Bon Jovi and crew and still lookin' good, still soundin' good and as hot as ever! The Sunday concert at the MCI center tops my list!
:
Washington, DC:
Time and time again, Bon Jovi still amazes me with their energy. The songs, old and new, are great and they love to involve the crowd. You can see the excitement in their eyes as well when they see the crowd so excited to be there singing along to their songs. For being around as long as they have, they are the quintessential band that loves what they do and will continue for a long time to come!!!
:
Arlington, VA:
The show was good, I suggest that performing artist keep political views and (shirts) out of similar events.
:
Odenton, MD:
What a show! The band looks great and sounds terrific. Hats off to the band! So what if Jon came out with a Gore T-shirt, everyone is entitled to speak their minds in this country. Give him a break! He came and did what everyone expected and that was to put on a great show and they gave 120%! The only thing that seemed a bit strange is Jon looked like he was having problems last night with his throat. Of course, him being the professional he is, that did not stop him from putting on a great show.
"Way to go Guys"
:
Glen Burnie, Maryland:
I was at the Bon Jovi concert last night. The Goo Goo Dolls were great, Bon Jovi was fantabulous, and they DEFINITELY still have what it takes, if not better than ever!!! The set was great, but the sound was awful, not that it mattered. The sold-out crowd singing overpowered the singing of the band. Most people, especially of the female persuasion, go to a Bon Jovi concert just to see Jon, anyway, and they DEFINITELY got their money's worth, as Jon DEFINITELY knows how to get the females squealing with delight!! He's 41? You'd never know it by the performance that he gives. The performance was wonderful, though why Jon went away for "I'll Be There for You", I cannot understand, though Richie did a wonderful job taking his place singing it. I wish they would have played a few more of their "oldies" like "Bed of Roses", "Lay Your Hands on Me", "Thank You for Loving Me" and "Never Say Good-Bye", but they were, after all, promoting "Bounce", so it's understandable. They played 22 songs, a lot more than most bands would perform, and overall it was a wonderful night spent!
:
Centreville VA:
They ROCKED! Those guys still have it. A package deal. A good mix of old and new stuff. A great stage set up. And totally yummy. Goo Goo Dolls were a great choice of opening acts. A perfect night!
:
Frederick, MD:
Awesome!!!!! They rocked and then some...alot of energy and the whole place was jumping...Jon and Co really does put these younger bands to shame. They act and sound like they really enjoy what they are doing...and that always makes for a good concert.Richie's solo was fantastic.... Fans got their moneys worth at MCI last night and Goo Goo Dolls were a great opener....
:
Burtonsville, MD:
I have been a huge Bon Jovi fan for many years and was so excited to see them last night at the MCI Center. Over the last two years I've seen them four times (twice in NJ and twice in DC) and I have to say that last night was probably the best I've seen. The Giants Stadium show two years ago was absolutely amazing and last night's had all that show's energy - and more! They're definitely still rockin'! They all sounded fabulous and had a very diverse set list. Great job, boys!
:
NEW JERSEY:
I thought Bon Jovi rocked....I was grateful to get tickets for this show. CD sales may be down but that's only because of downloading on the internet.... But it's almost 20 years of Bon Jovi and I actually can't get enough of them. They are still going strong Compared to what people call music today, I'd rather listen to Bon Jovi. It touches me. It's close to home. And I mean for 40+ guys, they are great to look at also...LOL
:
Odenton, MD:
This was my 5th Bon Jovi show and, while not the best (the first one always is) they still rock. I've always loved the band but I'm honest enough to admit that they were shaky on Runaway, when drummer Tico Torres seemed to forget that he needed to keep a beat for the rest of the band. Other than that, they were on the mark the whole time. They also were able to keep a great mix between old and new, playing most of Slippery When Wet, a few off of New Jersey and most of the newest album. Jon, Richie and the rest of the boys have more energy than most bands 1/2 their age, and they remember that the point of a concert is to have fun and hear the music. Anyone who says they didn't have a great time must have been trying hard not to.
:
Additionally...:
I also just want to say that I'm glad that Jon expressed his political views with his Gore/Lieberman shirt. He's got every right to do so and every right to express his dissatisfaction with this current administration. It made me cheer even louder!!!
:
Washington, DC:
Big fan of the concert, but unfortunately my good time was overshadowed by the t-shirt.
Way to alienate 50 percent of the audience, many of whom actually probaly work for the administration. It's not about politics, it just wasn't the place.
Who cares who Bon Jovi voted for? It was over TWO YEARS AGO!
:
Baltimore Md:
Yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!
so much fun.
:
Hampton, VA:
It's been said before. Like fine wine it only gets better with time. They still got it! David Bryan's solo to Richie's lead on I'll Be There For You. Just puts icing on the cake. They keep us Bouncing all night! The energy this band produces can not be put into words. The power of the audiance tells you what a super band they are. If you were there you know what I mean. Because today you can not speak and your ears are ringing. I guess to say I had a SUPER GREAT TIME!!!
:
Sterling, VA:
Oh boy... do they still have it? I am still recovering my voice. They are wonderful and they had everybody singing and standing. Bon Jovi rocks!
:
Centreville VA:
A shirt is a shirt, he has the right - and looked just fine in it anyway!! I would have been put off if he vocalized his opinion than by the shirt - don't let it ruin your experience.
:
Raleigh, N.C.:
Absolutely LOVED the show. The setlist was a great mix of old and new. The guys were so energetic that you forget that they are in their 40's. AWESOME show!!
:
Washington DC:
An otherwise great show was slightly diminished by the political tone of the encore, but political desperation can affect people in strange ways.
:
Lexington Park, MD:
Unfortunately I had to miss this concert because I was home on bed rest. I have been a fan of Bon Jovi's since 1984 and I catch as many concerts as I can between here, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. If this concert was anything like the last one at MCI I really missed out. I took my 18 y/o daughter and she could not believe how great they were on stage and how Jon's smile just lit up the entire place. I was going to take my 17 y/o daughter this time. No matter how many times I see them I never get bored. I am a die hard fan. "Keep Rockin Bon Jovi"
:
Glen Burnie, MD:
I've have been to several of Bon Jovi's concerts since the 80's and this was definitely the BEST one yet! They still can rock the house like no other band. I was one of the lucky girls who was given an armband and was able to go to the front next to the stage. I GOT TO KISS BON JOVI - OMG A DREAM COME TRUE!! This is one concert I will never forget. Words can't express the excitement I had, I'm still on cloud '9' today.
:
Washington, D.C.:
Last night's concert was my first JBJ concert and it was wild. I went with a friend who has been a fan forever, and even has the same tatoo as Jon and so even tho expectations were high the show fully measured up. It was a fantastic experience --they are great entertainers AND great musicians.
JBJ RULES!!!
:
Alexandria, Virginia:
I've loved Bon Jovi since 1986. I've seen them each and every time they've come to D.C. This wasn't the best concert they put on but definitely in the top 5. Jon couldn't have been hotter! Loved Ritchie's bluesy rendition of I'll Be There For You. As for the t-shirt, Jon had every right to say what he feels; it was subtle and I personally agree with him. Keep rockin' guys and I'll be seeing you next time you're in D.C.!!
:
Washington, DC:
Well done Bon Jovi! Fantastic show, best arena show I've seen. Tons of energy and the hits just kept coming. I was very pleased to see Jon wearing a Gore staff tshirt. I thought it was a great way to make a social statement and show his support of the political climate of DC. Seems strange that so many fans were alienated by the shirt--they're a blue-collar band from Jersey why would they vote Republican?
:
Cambridge, Maryland:
Well the boys of Bon Jovi speak this phrase and I believe it! " Like a fine wine, it gets better with time!" I was a lucky ticket holder to last night's event at the MCI center. Goo Goo Dolls did a great job. When Bon Jovi hit the stage the energy of the entire place exploded! Everything from the set list including old and new material, to the state of the art stage and effects was outstanding. Bon Jovi's ability to empower and uplift their audience and fans is obvious. With so many negative things in the world, Bon Jovi relays a sense of hope and faith. Their song selections were perfect. You could tell that thought was put into the selections and each song had a meaning for the events of today. I could have done without the Gore T-shirt but that was expression of a true American. I have seen them every tour since 1997 and I have to say that this was the best so far! Keep rockin Bon Jovi!
:
Arlington, VA:
I thought that Bon Jovi was awesome! My friends and I had a great time singing along to all the "classics." And I LOVED that he came out for the second half in the Gore/Lieberman shirt! I'm definitly an even bigger Bon Jovi fan now!
:
Davidsonville, MD :
I thought the concert was great UNTIL Jon came out wearing a Gore-Leiberman t-shirt and sang an anti-war song. I think Jon should take the t-shirt off and wear it when he goes on Meet the Press. I want to hear him sing; performers need to understand that WE DO NOT CARE about their political views.
Why did Jon feel compelled to use the concert as a polical forum? I think it is so unprofessional.
:
Manassas, VA:
AWESOME concert!!!!! Richie is so Hot...
Definitely lose the t-shirt Jon.
:
Columbus, OH:
I can's speak for the MCI Center show but the the sold-out show in Columbus was amazing! I can't believe the stamina of that band - 2.5 hours straight! The new stuff is okay but I appreciate how much time they spend in order to play a wide selection of their songs.
In regards to his political views - at the Columbus show Jon said that he does not want to use his fame to force his views on his fans but he "just wanted to say that this current administration scares the sh-t out of me." He received a few scattered boos for that - a bold statement in a largely Republican state.
:
Germantown,MD:
I went to the Bon Jovi concert last night at MCI Center. That was my 1st Bon Jovi concert & I was blown away! My sister & I had such a great time. They played some of my favorite old Bon Jovi songs & new ones off "Bounce". The Goo Goo Dolls were a great choice for an openning act. However Bon Jovi stole the show as always. I didn't let the t-shirt thing bother me, I didn't go to the concert to see the t-shirt. I went to go see Bon Jovi play great music. Those guys from New Jersey still have it!
:
Frederick, MD:
Bon Jovi ROCKS!!!!! Last night's show was awesome, esp since I saw them Fri in Phila as well. They never disappoint. At one point, too many slow songs in a row which got everyone back into their seats, but then everyone was up again later. I have been a fan since 1984 and have seen then a zillion times....they have still got it. Thanks guys, and can't wait to see you again.
:
Falls Church, VA:
The concert was GREAT, EXCITING, AWESOME! I mean EXCELLENT! The band still has it going on AND John still looks the same. The crowd was into the concert the entire night. I loved it when John Bon Jovi came out with the Gore/Lieberman Campaign t-shirt--a definite political statement. Everyone laughed.
:
Reston, VA:
Wow! The concert was FANTASTIC and I'm a little surprised that Jon's choice of shirt was such a big memory. I actually thought it was great to see him wear it and expressing HIS views. It's a concert but he should have fun with it too!
BON JOVI still rocks...I enjoyed the entire concert, including Shout..how fun.
:
A T-shirt ruins a concert????:
I can't believe ANYONE would let what 1 performer wears "ruin" or "overshadow" such an incredible show -please....these guys gave us everything they had then some for 2 hours and you want a 3 year old t-shirt to ruin it - I so don't understand. The show was so much fun - I had a blast all the way through!
:
Washington, DC:
This concert was awesome. If I had one word to describe the atmosphere at this place, it would be "skanktuary". Apparently time stopped for the majority of the people at the concert back in 1986, which must make life really fun. I seriously thought most of those people just died after the 80s were over, but apparently I was wrong. On the way into the bathroom I passed a guy with a half-mullet and a skinny mustache wearing a t-shirt from Poison's "Open Up and Say AHHH" tour, and he was talking about the Skid Row concert he just saw. You cannot put a price on this kind of entertainment.
:
Gaithersburg, MD:
Just as they have at every show I've been to (and that's quite a lot over the past 20 years, every album, every tour)...Bon Jovi rocks the house! I've NEVER left disappointed. Last night's energy level was unbelievable and the crowd fed off of that energy the entire time. This band LOVES what they do and LOVES their fans. Some are complaining about their new music...but all of the members have matured over the years and this comes through in their music. You cannot expect, after 20 years, to get a 2003 rendition/version of "Runaway", just with a different album cover. You have to view their new material in a different way. We want to hear their new tunes just as much as their old (think Bruce folks). They played such a great mix of old and new last night...and with supurb rock and roll style and finesse (all while looking hotter than ever)...who could ask for more??!!! And, if you let Jon's Gore T-shirt affect your night, that's unfortunate (quite whining Washingtonians!). Bon Jovi's always supported the Democratic Party in a wide variety of ways...so you could have pretty much expected to see some sort of statement last night (and if you're a true fan you should KNOW this). Rock on Bon Jovi! I'm 34 and hope (and look forward) to following you, your music, and your shows for the next 20 years.
:
Edison, NJ:
The show was awesome!!! It was like my 88th show and they get better and better each time!!! I think it is a little stupid for people to be upset that Jon wore a Gore shirt. He never said anything about it and he is allowed to wear whatever he wants....so get over it!!!!! Why should a t-shirt change your opinion. Grow up!! GO JON AND GO GORE! Bon Jovi rocks!
:
Washington DC:
I was soooo disappointed. I used to love BJ, and this concert was horrible. his voice was cracking and the band seemed like they were out of it.
:
washingtonpost.com:
Be sure to check out Washington Post music critic David Segal's review of Bon Jovi's show in tomorrow's paper.
Arlington, VA:
I thought that show was awesome, until the end when he came out with a Gore/Liberman shirt. I paid for a concert not for someone to express their political views... I felt that it was very unprofessional and it did take away from the show... Besides that upset, it was great, he played a good variety of old and new songs...
:
Gainesville, Va.:
Great Show. but Jon still spends to much time with back to crowd. No Lay your Hands, Blaze, In and Out of Love, or Hardest Part of Night. would be nice to play original songs when you have so many instead of two covers. Played Slippery When Wet tunes to early in set. Still there better than 99.9 percent of the bands that have come out in the last 10 years.
:
Bethesda MD:
Amazing! Good old and new songs. Upbeat - the house was a rocking!
:
Wash. DC:
I am a huge Bon Jovi fan...and this was an GREAT concert. He gets better with age. The music was wonderful. People please stop complaining about his shirt...he can express himself any way he pleases, does this have to turn into reviewing his shirt, or should we focus on the music. Living on a Prayer is my favorite song. I also loved BAD MEDCINE!!!!! This show rocked!!!!!!!! Bon Jovi Rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:
Silver Spring, MD:
While Jon did appear to be having throat problems, it was still an amazing show. The Goo Goo Dolls were good, but they have no where near the energy level of Bon Jovi. Jon really knows how to get a crowd going!
:
District of Columbia:
If Jon Bon Jovi is middle age, then I definitely was at the wrong show. Classic rock always sets me off, and David Bryan's keyboards really highlighted the evening for me. Once again, I'm so grateful Abe + Irene Pollin brought the arena downtown, and when the new convention center starts gathering steam I will probably stay in DC forever. The only distraction - why do I pay $82.50 twice to sit through 15 mins. of marketing when the bands pitch their awareness causes and new lp. But they're still not as shameless as the 'gangsta' hip-hop performers.
:
Alexandria, VA:
I thought the Bon Jovi show was excellent. I think there is a great deal of talent. The only thing I saw inappropriate was the amount of politics that was thrown in my face. I go to a Bon Jovi show to listen and see an artist perform his/her work. I have no interest in their political opinions.
:
Vienna, VA:
The Bon Jovi concert was awsome! The music sounded great and the band had so much energy and put on an excellent show.
:
Olney, Maryland:
The Bon Jovi show got off to a great start with Goo Goo Dolls. They were a great opening band who really seemd to get the crowd going with hits like "Slide", "Broadway" and "Iris". The Bon Jovi Crowd seemed to really enjoy them. At 8:50 Bon Jovi took the stage and the crowd was on their feet. Bon Jovi know how to entertain a crowd, however he provides litle personal interaction with his crowd. This is a job for him, nothing more. He blew through his hits early, leaving too much dead time between songs. Bon Jovi seemed to please his die-hard fans, but I fear few new ones were made last night.
:
Annapolis, MD:
Awesome show, loved that they played Runaway...I am soo looking forward to seeing them in Jersey at the Giant's Stadium shows.
:
Fairfax, VA:
I was at the Bon Jovi show at MCI Center last night, and was having a great time until....the encore. Was my first BJ concert, and I would classify it as one of the top rock concerts I have ever seen, from the atmosphere and effects to the the amount and range of the songs they performed. However, the reason we pay money for events such as that is to be entertained and to get away from goings on in our lives and the world. What he did by donning that Gore/Lieberman t-shirt was just downright disgraceful and out of place. My mood and that of many others in the crowd changed from that point on. In my opinion, a perfect performance was ruined! Promoting division among the people of this nation is just downright wrong. He had the right to do it b/c we are free in this country, but it was completely inappropriate. I'm sorry to say I will never support or go to see the band perform again because of it.
:
Havre de Grace, MD:
The show was great, despite Jon's well known voice problems. Rather than cancelling as many performers do, they spread the wealth so to speak. I was glad to see they statred playing runaway again, and giving the mike to Ritchie gives him to showcase his exceptional talent even further, rather than denying the crowd a favurite tune.
I'm tired of hearing about how his shirt ruined your show and he has no right expressing his views. His right to do so is exactly what makes this country great. Most of the people complaining about expressing political views here didn't grow up in the 60's and 70's when music was exactly that, an open forum for political views. It made my night actually. Don't blast him about patriotism, etc. Many of us, actually the majority of us, did not vote for for the current administration. Don't challenge my or Jon's patriotism because we don't agree with the administrations way of handling the curent state of affairs. It was another fine performance by a great band.
:
Washington, DC:
I thought the show was awesome! I was a big Bon Jovi fan during their Slippery When Wet era, but had not followed the band for years. I was worried I wouldn't know many of the songs, but they had something for everyone. The energy was amazing, both from the band and the audience, and I definitely feel that the boys from New Jersey gave 110%. Great show!
:
Germantown, MD:
I was one of the lucky people who attended the Bon Jovi Concert last night. It was amazing!!! The songs were one after another after another - I am glad that they sang a lot of their older songs but their new stuff is great as well. Must say Jon and Ritchie are HOT! Ritchie did and outstanding job with "I'll be there for you" and Jon - well what can I say - he knows how to rock. I have seen them several times in concert but I must say this was the best. I especially liked the Gore T-shirt. People get a life - freedom of speech and expression - need I say more. I thought it was great! I also think that the Goo Goo Dolls did an excellect job and sounded really great as well. Keep rockin Bon Jovi for another 20 years! Your true fans love you and always will.
:
Philadelphia, PA:
I thought it was a good concert, but Jon (possibly ill?) was not as candid as he was a few days earlier in Phialdelphia. He got the job done--it was a very good business-as-usual concert, but it is the concerts where odd occurrences happen that make it worthwhile to the fans who go to 4-5 shows.
They didn't stray much from a normal setlist, but still gave the audience everything they had. It was an excellent, but typical show.
:
Arlington, VA:
They rocked. Absolutely loved them... they know how to put on an energy-filled, POSITIVE, and love-filled show. Yes, it was a little sketchy when they sang "Eve of Destruction" for the first encore, but hey... that's one little blip in the whole. One thing I've always loved about Bon Jovi is they never forget their roots... the mid-80s stuff that put them on the rock map. They are quintessential rockstars without the rockstar attitude.
:
Woodbridge,VA:
I have never sreamed louder! My throat feels aweful now, but damn it was worth the waiting and screaming! BON JOVI rocks! The concert was GREAT!!! I still can't beleive I was there. They haven't changed a bit, they still rock the house. I couldn't beleive the energy from the audience and the band! It was awesome! As far as the t-shirt, I thought that was great! I laughed so hard, he can do what he wants, and it was HIS opinion, i thought it was great! The band was great, Richie Sambora was fabulous, what a great job! Bon Jovi definetly still has it! Great Job guys!
:
Atlanta, Georgia:
This was my first Bon Jovi concert after having been a fan from the beginning and I have to say they did not disappoint. Loved the lights, loved the opening act, loved the music. I would have loved to have heard "Bed of Roses," but I'll get over it. "-They've] been a million places and they've rocked them all"...MOST DEFINITELY!! Sambora's "I'll Be There For You," was incredible. Bryan on the keyboards was not to be missed. Torres on drums was thunderous. Jon Bon on vocals (and styling) was the capper and icing on the cake. Great band, great sound, great music. Oh, and the t-shirt? LOVED IT! For those of you who felt it detracted, what a waste of emotion. It rocked...like the music.
:
Annandale, VA:
I loved the Bon Jovi concert and absolutely think those guys still have it! They had so much energy and every song sounded great...I was on my feet dancing just about the entire show! I have to say that I got a kick out of the t-shirt Jon wore at the end of the show...freedom of speech...if you can't make a political statement in DC, where else can you make one? Way to go guys! Keep on rockin! I think having the Goo Goo Dolls open for them was a fantastic choice...it was a perfect concert all the way around!
:
Laurel, MD:
Awesome show!!!
:
Woodbridge, VA:
Excellent show - Bon Jovi and Goo Goo Dolls. Bon Jovi demonstrated why they have so many fans, both old and new. They played songs from earlier in their career like Runaway and songs from their latest album, Bounce. Each song they played was met with an enthusiastic crowd response. I didn't sit down the entire show. Way to go.

BON JOVI - Awesome - loved the show, loved the energy, loved the TShirt. . . nuff said

Washington, D.C.:
I am a huge Bon Jovi fan - have been since 1986. I thought the show last night was fantastic, and I've seen them dozens of times over the past 17 years. They just keep getting better and better! My only criticism was Jon's shirt as well. I came to see a rock concert as an escape from world events, and I really didn't need to see who he supports. We all know he's a Gore/Democratic supporter and that's his choice. Just don't force your opinions on others who paid a lot of money to have a fun evening as an escape. Bad choice, Jon! As for the concert, BRAVO!
:
Fairfax, VA:
They still got it and more. Those guys from Jersey had more energy than I have seen from them in a long while, not to mention their stage and laser show was incredible. An awesome show, no doubt, and I can't wait for them to come back again.
:
Arlington, VA:
I LOVED Jon's campaign t-shirt. Also- "Eve of Destruction" to start the encore was an excellent choice. Everyone seems so hung-up on the shirt that they failed to recognize a Viet Nam era anti-war song.
Excellent show all around. Great mix of old and new and an INCREDIBLE amount of energy. I was totally impressed from start to finish.
:
Alexandria, VA:
Bon-Jovi was GREAT! They rocked out and kept me entertained through the entire show. They definitely still have what it takes to keep touring.
:
Arlington, Va:
Bon Jovi rocked, and rolled last night. They played pretty much everything I wanted to hear, except for Bed of Roses and Never Say Goodbye. The fact that I had a few tall boys and was sitting next to some attractive females quickly made up for the Gore/Lieberman shirt and the altitude of my seat. The Jersey boys still rock and it's good to see a band come out of the 80s and continue improving and entertaining the crowd so well.

Forestville, MD:
The Bon Jovi concert last night was great!!! I've been a fan for the last 18 years...and they still have so much energy!!! They always know how to get the audience involved and give us a great time!! I especially enjoyed hearing Richie Sambora perform "I'll Be There For You". I wished i could have heard some songs from These Days..which they have done in other cities. As far as Jon wearing the Gore shirt...i laughed but i think it would be more appropriate to wear a peace shirt or no war shirt if he is disageeing with the current situation in Iraq. As a Washington resident i am tired of hearing about the 2000 election. This is the 3rd show i've seen thus far this tour....and it was one of the best....but could have been longer!!
:
Washington, DC:
As a casual fan who fell upon a ticket, I thought last night's show was energetic, nostalgic and fun.
As for the encore -- I wonder how last night's audience would have reacted had Bon Jovi been wearing a Bush/Cheney shirt? We'll never know - but the thought of a diehard Democrat paying for a concert and then having to endure a very public show of support for President Bush does bring a (sympathetic) smile to my face.

Feedback on Bon Jovi:
Saw them at the MCI Center, they were FANTASTIC! The crowd ranged from age 10 to 60. This was my third time seeing them and they were "top notch", the best I have ever seen them be. No complaints here. In fact, I really think that they "get better and better with age". Their voices and lyrics are clearer than ever and their stage presence is so outstanding. Each year these guys seem to get "more comfortable with their own skin". At the end of the concert, the band really seemed so genuinely overwhelmed by the reception of the crowd at the MCI center. These guys are the "real thing" and they remain true to themselves and their music...Long live Bon Jovi!!! I will always buy their music and go to their concerts....as long as they go on, I am "Keeping the Faith".
:
Reston, Virginia:
As a Brit who has been a fan of the band for the past seventeen years and seen them in concert numerous times last night I found myself attending the gig with a friend who only knew one song. What can I say, she was totally impressed to the extent this morning she has purchased three CDs. For me the band were on form, they haven't lost the plot and I look forward to seeing them back in the UK in June.

Arlington, VA:
I support freedom of speech and agree Jon Bon Jovi has every right to express his views. However, this was not the appropriate forum. He's a rock star, not a foreign policy expert, and people from both sides of the aisle paid a lot to see him. I would have preferred he not alienate half of his audience by being completely disrespectful to the President. If we were approaching a Presidential election, and he wore the shirt, I would be much more open-minded about it-- it IS appropriate to show support for a VALID candidate. Wearing the shirt 2 years into President Bush's administration was his blatant way of saying "screw you" to the President of the United States. Although I don't care what Hollywood actors and rock stars think about something they know so little about, at least Sheryl Crow had enough tact to simply express her views about war, vs. choosing to show obvious contempt for Bush. People who wish Gore was President need to stop whining and accept the fact he LOST. He will NOT be a candidate for President in 2004, so digging up dust and wearing his campaign shirt was absurd.
For the record, I did enjoy the concert and was completely lost in the music until he came out for the encore in that ridiculous shirt. I will still be a fan of the band and the music, but I won't pay money to see JBV act like such a jerk again. It was very clear from my vantage that the shirt was disturbing to a large part of the audience-- didn't anyone notice how quiet the arena suddenly became? Yes, it picked back up, but I noticed a lot of people in my section leave with disgusted looks on their faces. Rock bands should want to leave their audience pleased, excited and wanting more, NOT focused on their foolish attempts at political protest.
:
Lake Ridge, VA:
The concert was terrific. They sound as good live as they do recorded. Absolutely the best concert I've ever been to.
:
Washington DC:
The show was amazing. So many classics were played. It was fabulous. Wish they hadn't ended with shout since they still had so many other great jams they could have played, but whatever makes Bon happy. Living on a prayer and Bad medicine were just too much...
:
Richmond, VA:
What a PHENOMENAL performance! There are not words to describe the feeling of the crowd.
However, there are plenty of words for the "Great T-shirt Debate." Primarily...GET OVER IT! Bon Jovi's music comes from their heart and personal experience. Inherently, by writing or playing a song, any song, an artist makes a personal statement. While I did agree with his sentiment, even if I didn't, I would have respected his opinion. Music has historically been political. Anyway, he wasn't preaching, he was just expressing his feelings which is exactly what we love in his music.
Of course, the upside is that we don't have to worry about those that are vowing to never return taking up precious seats at future shows.
Hopefully, Richie's shirt for the encore, which simply read "SAMBORA," was a political one as well. Bon Jovi/Sambora in 2004!
:
Vienna, Va:
I have to say, this stupid t-shirt stuff is one of the reasons I hate living in Washington, DC. It was a t-shirt, and a classic song, not some bold anti-war statement. The lines at the (ridiculously priced at $35!) t-shirt stand were as long afterward as they were before the show, so I don't think Bon Jovi will be hurting from your silly "boycott". Too bad for those of you who let it ruin a simply fantastic show.
My only complaint about the actual show is that they played too much of their new stuff. The way the audience reacted to the first six songs should be a clue (new song, sitting, old song, up and rocking, new, sit, old, up, new, sit, old, up). They still rock after all these years!
:
Germantown MD:
My wife wanted to see Bon Jovi. Personally, I was there to see the Goo Goo Dolls. I'm biased but I got what I expected. Goo Goo blew them away. The Gore shirt was just stupid and so was their act. A bunch of 80's has-beens not knowing when to hang it up.
:
Lighten up folks:
So he put on his political sweat shirt (not a TEE shirt!) in DC. Wouldn't be the first time someone did that, now would it. The show was full of energy, and even though Jon had to keep working on his throat, he still sounded terrific and put on an incredible show. This band flat out rocks! If you are offended by political preference, you are living in the wrong town!
:
Glen Burnie, Md:
Bon Jovi's concert on March 9, 2003 lived up to everything it has been in the past! They played every song imaginable and allowed the crowd to interact and feel a part of the show. Even sitting in the 400 section I still felt the energy from the band and crowd. I have been a follower in the past and this show only solidified my excitement for Bon Jovi.
:
Stafford, VA:
Last night's concert was amazing for the most part. I was on the side only about 15 feet away from the band, and they were fantastic. It was a perfect mix of their old and new songs. The band sounded just as good as they did in the 80's. I had a great time until the encore. That Gore/Leiberman sweatshirt was uncalled for!! If I want politics, I'll watch CSPAN. I came for a rock conert! JBJ needs to keep his misguided political views off the stage. A horrible ending to what was a great night!
:
Newark, DE:
The Bon Jovi show was the most high energy, electric show I have ever seen any group perform. And as a 50-something rock fan I have seen all the greats - Beatles, Stones, the Boss, etc - and I have never experienced an audience reaction like the one last night. I went with my daughter (25) and we had an amazing time - singing, dancing and just enjoying life from that incredible rush that the audience provided. Jon hasn't lost a beat as he gets older like fine wine and Richie's guitar virtuosity is second to none. The playlist mixed great oldies with the Bounce songs. Over a 2 1/2 hour show, the band can't play only the anthem power songs or they would not be able to do 2 1/2 hours, and neither would that audience, so the slower or newer songs allow them to recharge for the next go round. They looked great and gave the audience more than you would expect to hear at a stadium show.
To weigh in on the T-shirt debate - after 9/11 Jon and Richie were some of the first celebrities who showed up on TV ads to make pleas for donations for NYC disaster relief (I had always liked them as a band, but fell totally in love with them for their heartfelt empathy for our country.) The band gave unstintingly of their time to aid in fund raising concerts and other events, besides spending personal time with victims' families. These are Jersey boys who have walked the walk when people needed some relief. They have a right as caring citizens of this country to wear any T-shirt they want. If you had listened earlier in the show, Jon dedicated a song to our men and women in the military (The Distance) and sang Undivided - his tribute to the victims of 9/11. And you want to quibble about a t-shirt? Grow up and get involved with life like they do - there are real "insults" in life to deal with - people in need. Maybe then a t-shirt wont't offend you. This Jersey girl applauds the audacity of wearing that t-shirt in the ultimate "company town" - and Eve of Destruction was icing on the cake. Thanks to Jon, Richie, Tico, David and Hugh for One REALLY Wild Night!
:
Bethesda, MD:
Growing up in New Jersey -- just 2 miles from Sayreville, no less -- makes being a Bon Jovi fan as automatic as breathing. The band was AWESOME last night. They looked great -- they sounded great -- they moved like 20 year olds -- and the energy level was unreal!! Jon is sexier than ever. They could just do no wrong last night. I didn't stop dancing or singing or smiling all night. I feel like a lovesick high school girl, but I'm 35!!! IS THERE A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE............................
:
Odenton, MD:
This was the first time I've seen Bon Jovi in concert and he was awesome!! The concert was jammed packed with fans, and we all went especially crazy when they played their older songs, and some of the newer ones. The laser lights were unbelievable and he did a very nice dedication to the soilders overseas.
I love you JBJ!
:
Washington DC:
It was my first concert in the MCI center, and I really enjoyed it. Bon Jovi was icredibly good and energetic! Hats of! As we sang their songs and had an incredibly good evening, it all ended with something that gives me a great deal of relief and tells me that there is still hope for the US. That someone as big as Jon Bon Jovi has the guts and brains to show the crowd what he truly thinks of the Bush administration, and what they are trying to do. That made my day. He is still far from Bono, but he is definitly catching up! Thanks!
:
Sterling, VA:
Bon Jovi definitely still has it. Their show was awesome last night...full of energy..didn't even take an intermission. Did the new stuff and the classics. Couldn't have asked for a better show. If I didn't know better I would swear Jon was still in his 20's. Such a hottie!
:
Bowie, Md.:
Bon Jovi is perfection. From their looks to their sound, sheer perfection.
I am amazed at their energy level and vocals. They sound JUST like their CDs, which is a treat to their fans. You can sing with them and know they will not destroy the songs that you have grown to love.
I was mesmerized by their performance. INCREDIBLE!
:
Richmond, VA:
I've been a Bon Jovi fan since I was 14, and I'm now 30. Yes, Jon Bon Jovi may have been having some trouble with his throat, but, what he lacked vocally, Jon more than made up for it with his high-energy performance!
As far as the T-Shirt; I didn't find anything wrong with it, but even if I had, it wouldn't have stopped me from enjoying their music! This is America, afterall, and freedom of expression is one of our most appreciated rights!
GREAT JOB YET AGAIN, BON JOVI!
:
Shrewsbury, PA:
Bon Jovi was incredible! They had a lot of energy and they played a good mix of the old and new. The older they get the better they are in concert. They kept up the energy for the entire show.
:
Arlington, VA:
I am in love with Richie Sambora .. his rendition of "I'll be there for you" brought tears to my eyes.
Do it Bon Jovi - always.
:
Arlington VA:
The show was fabulous until he pulled out that ridiculous shirt. If he wanted to make a statement about protesting war, then he should have done that. He did nothing but alienate half of his audience. There was no need to ruin a great concert with such a classless act. While I completely support his right to free speech, I do not feel his concert was the appropriate forum in which to express his blatant disrespect for the current administration. I'll still enjoy his music, but I certainly won't be dropping $60 on a ticket anymore, so someone else can have mine in the future....
:
Fort Meade, Md.:
It was an awesome concert! I could not imagine how they would top it in their encore but the now famous t-shirt and singing "Eve of Destruction" blew me away!
This is a band with a conscience and an incredible amount of talent. They've still got it. Rock on!
:
Baltimore, Md.:
Listen up rockers!
Bon Jovi has set the standard of what a great rock concert is all about! These boys know how to please a crowd. The energy reverberated through the entire arena. Even the nosebleed section!
:
Washington, DC:
The Bon Jovi concert was excellent! I can't believe that Jon Bon Jovi still has the energy of a 20 yr old! What a performer. The band sounded great. Jon sounded great. I think that they have gotten better with age!
:
Huntingtown.:
I'm glad they had the high screens on the side. That way I could actually see sometimes.
Why can't people just SIT DOWN? I paid to see a show. NOT the back of the peoples heads 2 or 3 rows down.
:
Warrenton, VA:
I thought the concert was awesome. The band sang for over 2 hours and it was wonderful. I have been a Bon Jovi fan for over 15 yrs now and I totally loved the concert. They did a superb job, and I can not wait for the next concert!!!
:
Gettysburg, Pa.:
My two friends and I had a wonderful time at the Bon Jovi concert. Their energy was dynamic and made us feel young again. Thanks guys for a wonderful night!
:
Washington, DC:
For the person who wants people to sit down during concerts, give me a break. This was a rock show. If you want people to stay in their seats, go to a classical concert.
:
Washington D.C.:
I don't understand all the comotion over the politics and the t-shirt. If you accept the premise that performers are artists, then you must accept that their art is infused with and influenced by their life experiences, personal philosophy, politics, emotions, and so on. You must expect that all of those things are going to be on exhibit at a concert as they are part of the performer's very being. And besides that, this IS Washington D.C. - the perfect place to make a political statement. Jeez, some of you people never would have survived the 60's. LOL!
:
Fairfax, VA:
Bon Jovi still rocks! The group puts on an amazing live performance. Hearing some of their "classics" combined with their new stuff was awesome. Ritchie Sambora's solo of "I'll Be There For You" was excellent and Jon Bon Jovi's energy and ability to keep the crowd pumped was incredible. The set and laser lights were innovative and in general, this was a "must-see" concert.
:
Springfield VA:
Ok all you idiots who were "so offended" by Jon's t-shirt need to get a life. He wasn't "dividing the crowd" or creating some HUGE CRAZY POLITICAL STIR. Big frigin deal...he's a democrat, thank god and good for him for wearing a shirt. It's not like he got up there and preached. And sorry but bands are often very vocal in their politcal views...you might want to just stay at home in the future if you are so easily offended and leave the rest of us to enjoy an awesome show.
:
Arlington, VA:
This my 5th Bon Jovi concert..it is true what they say about us Jovi followers. This show was awesome! The guys sounded great and the special effects get better each tour.
Goo Goo Dolls opened for them~ they were great too!!
All around good show and worth every penny!
:
Alexandria, VA:
Great show in DC but the Gore t-shirt he wore during the encore was not appreciated.
He alienated a lot of fans in the audience, many who attended work for Republicans.
:
Woodbridge, VA:
I have been a Bon Jovi fan for 20 years. The concert was GREAT...UNTIL the band came back for the encore. Jon's 'Gore/Lieberman Campaign Staff 2000' t-shirt was inappropriate. Personally I was offended. I immediately left once I saw his t-shirt. First of all, it's 2003....not 2000. Second, Gore/Leiberman L-O-S-T (something that I guess Jon hasn't gotten over yet). Third, it's disrespectful to the presidency in general. Fourth, I paid to see the band perform (and not have Jon's politics shoved down my throat). Just as I would not publicize my political beliefs at my job, nor should he!
:
Maryland:
I've been reading these reviews posted and there are a lot of people slamming Jon for wearing his t-shirt. Hey he has a right to voice his opinion! And besides is he wrong? No! Gore should have won in the first place and secondly who actually thinks Bush is doing a good job?? You would have to be insane to think Bush is a good president! I'm glad Jon wore the shirt! I'm glad he voiced his opinion to the fact that we don't need none of this trouble Bush is causing for us! We were going along peaceful like in the world till he came into office. There are a lot of other entertainers out there that have voicing their opinions, Springsteen among them. And isn't music a forum for discussing different views on life. Those that were offended and can't get past the politics have no right to even be at the show cause nobody said you have to agree 100% with the entertainer, you should be there just for the music.
Keep up the good work Jon and the rest of the Jersey boys! You guys did great. Will see you again!
:
Sterling, Va:
Awesome show and many props to john for being strong enough in his beliefs and views to wear the gore shirt. i'm with you, baby!
:
Sterling, VA:
For those of you complaining about the T-shirt: I knew JBJ is a big Gore supporter and that's a big reason why I did not go to this concert. I don't need my money going straight to the DNC. I can't believe anyone who calls themselves a fan of Bon Jovi didn't realize that Jon is a bigtime Democratic donor, so why be surprised/disgusted with the appearance of a "Gore Leiberman" shirt? I find it funny how a hair metal band from the 80s finds the need to spout political opinions. What's next, Kip Winger meeting with the UN security council? The fact that Bon Jovi's music is not "serious" or "profound" (unlike fellow NJ windbag Springsteen) is precisely why I like it so much, and I know I can't be alone. So why make an over the top statement to an apolitical audience? Yeah, he has the right to do so, but it's a dumb idea no matter what his "opinions" are.
:
College Park, MD:
Yes they still have it and it was a wonderful concert. As for the Gore/Lieberman t-shirt, isn't free speech wonderful! JBJ had every right to wear that shirt. I was not offended by it and I doubt 50% of the people there would consider (or even admit at this point) themselves employed by the current administration. What's wrong with wanting peace and not war?
:
Upper Marlboro, MD:
The MCI center was the 3rd show I've seen on the tour. I saw the band in Jersey and in Philly, and all three shows have rocked! There is no doubt that the band gets better with age! Awesome concert, great stage setup, superior set lists. Bon Jovi is the best show I've ever seen. I've been seeing this band since 1987, and have tickets to see them on 4 more of their shows this tour. Every show gets better and better.
:
Chevy Chase, MD:
The show rocked!!! It was my first Bon Jovi concert and I have to say the boys still have it. Bon Jovi and Springsteen make me proud to say that my roots are from New Jersey! I will definitely go see them when they come back to DC.
:
Wake Forest, NC:
The show at the MCI Center was fabulous! I am in my 40's and went with my 22-year-old daughter. She pointed out to me a few feet below us on the floor a little girl (probably about 4 or 5 years old) on her father's shoulders singing the words to all of the songs and pumping her fists in the air! How fun!
I will be in the 4th row for the upcoming Raleigh show and I can hardly wait.
As far as the shirt...so what? I got a chuckle out of it, but it did not distract me. He can wear whatever he wants...just like you and me! That's the beauty of the USA!
