Surviving "Survivor"
With Lisa de Moraes
Washington Post TV Writer

Friday, March 30, 2001
NEW TIME: 3 p.m. EST

The trekking, the foraging, the backstabbing, the product placement -- "Survivor II," the most eagerly awaited TV sequel ever, debuted after this year's Super Bowl. In the weeks since the show's premiere, this year's contestants have faced challenge after challenge, killed a pig and had one contestant airlifted after an injury.

De Moraes will be online Friday, March 30, 2001, at 1 p.m. EST to take your questions about the latest episode. And, fear not, she'll be back each Friday to discuss the ongoing saga of this reality show. De Moraes will also take your questions on the rest of the week's prime time line-up.

De Moraes has written the TV Column for The Post since 1998. She served as the TV editor for the entertainment industry trade publication the Hollywood Reporter for more than a decade.

The transcript follows...

dingbat

Washington, D.C.: Lisa, for those of us that missed the show, would you give us a one-sentence synopsis before the chat begins... who was voted off and who dissed who... inquiring minds want to know!

Lisa de Moraes: Entire tribe continues to hate Jerri who wins the luxury challenge with Colby and then spends what she thinks is "romantic honeymoon without the sex" on Great Barrier Reef with Colby and only learns too late that he was actually plotting her overthrow by gathering coral to bring back to tribe as gifts; tribe so loves coral bits that they decide Jerri, who came back emptyhanded, must go and they vote her off at episode end, much to her surpise and audience's relief.

Ding, Dong, The Witch Is Dead!: HA! Jerri is GONE!

"I knew it all along" MY FOOT!

So happy.

Lisa de Moraes: Hooray! Now I'm starting to miss her. Who will we love to hate next week. I'm thinking Keith is a pretty good candidate...

Washington: Do you think Ogakor panicked unnecessarily by turning on one of their own? If they were going to vote off Jerri eventually, wouldn't it make more sense to just pick off Kucha one by one first? Besides the fact that she's annoying, wasn't breaking ranks to oust Jerri a poor tactical move?

Lisa de Moraes: They did panic -- at the thought of having to spend another minute in the company of Jerri. It was a poor tactical move which speaks volumes about how very much they loathed her.

Potomac Falls, Va.: Hey Lisa,
The celebration is on! Did you see the expression on Jerri's face when she got the boot...from her own tribe... OUCH!!! I think Elizabeth might win this thing. Apparently, the tribe is quite fond of her...let's keep our fingers crossed.

I have one other question, why in the world is Jennifer Lopez a star? The girl can't sing or act. Have you seen her dance routines at the VH-1 award show. Man, she is awful! What is it with this girl, no talent but a big booty?

Lisa de Moraes: Jennifer Lopez is a star because she represents the American Dream: even the mediocre can succeed.. Loved look on Jerri's face when they whacked her.

Waldorf, Md.: The TV Editor prior to you used to list the previous week's top ten TV shows in a stand-alone column. It was quick and easy to read. Would you be opposed to resuming that column? Don't get me wrong, your stories are excellent, don't change a thing, just would like you to add the top ten column. Thanks,

Ron Perkins

Lisa de Moraes: We list the weekly top 10 at the end of my Winners & Losers ratings column.....

Alexandria, Va.: Poor editing in this episode. With all the cutting back and forth, you could never tell who was where in the reward challenge (flashback to the end of Phantom Menace). They telegraphed Nick's immunity win by spending so much video telling us how he "really, really needed to win". And speaking of wasted video, how about the kid vid "Let's Go on A Helicopter Ride!"?

Lisa de Moraes: I wasn't as bothered by it as you. Or maybe I'm just so happy Jerri got hers that I've forgiven bad editing....

Burke, Va.: OK, I'll admit that I haven't seen any of "Survivor 2." Did see an episode of S1, to see what all the fuss was about and was amazed to see that this was the most popular show in the country. Is this part of a trend that for lack of a better phrase is the "dumbing down" of U.S. TV? So many of the quality shows ala NYPD Blue, ER, Law & Order are the ones that have been around for years. The new ones all seem to be the worst of the imports. Perhaps because we can't seem to make good versions of the classy ones. I'll take an hour of "As Time Goes By" or "Remember WENN" any day!

Lisa de Moraes: Loved "Remember WENN." Love "Survivor." Apparently American viewers are just the teensiest bit tired of the over used cop show, doctor drama, sitcom w/laugh track formats. I think what they like is the change, as much as the actual programming....

Still on the Island: So this was the week they finally voted Jerri off -- a surprise twist, yet I was bored. Why? Shouldn't this have been the most exciting episode in weeks?

Lisa de Moraes: I think the show suffered for the move to Wednesday and the rerun clip show. The ratings from last night reflected it. 28 million, which is very good but not through the roof. The show definitely lost some ratings momentum. I don't think CBS will repeat the strategy...

Eye Street, 20006: A Non-Survivor question: Do you know anything about "The Weakest Link"? Is it as stupid and annoying as the commercials make it out to be?

Lisa de Moraes: It is a wonderfully icky show. It's really all about the host, who abuses the contestants. She's the anti-Regis.

Vienna, Va.: Hi Lisa,

As thrilled as my family and I were to see Jerri the Wicked Witch get the boot last night, I was incredibly disappointed that Bryant Gumbel was not around to skewer her this morning. Did Jane Clayson let her off easy or what??

Anyway, now that The Evil One is history, who do you pick to be the final two?

Lisa de Moraes: I was heartbroken that Bryant wasn't there today to skewer Jerri. Bryant's on vacation, I'm told. And that Jane Clayson is a great talent; it's taken Barbara Walters, for instance, YEARS to perfect her softball interview technique, while Clayson got it right off the bat...Clayson's interview with Jerri rivaled Diane Sawyer's with Michael Jackson -- remember?

Washington, D.C.: Did you catch "Boot Camp" on Fox Wednesday night? What did you think?

Lisa de Moraes: I was pretty shocked by the first 15 minutes. The military comes off looking pretty bad. But once the drill guys calmed down a tad it got kinda interesting. And, of course I loved that the woman emerged victorious at the end, voting off the sexist creep who had been barking orders at them just cause he thought he could...

Rockville, Md.: Regarding your comments the other day about NBC's re-airing of "Homicide: The Movie" and its comparatively-low ratings: I would just like to note that there was very little promotion of the rerun from NBC beforehand. Also, NBC chose to air the rerun of "Homicide: The Movie" opposite the telecast of the Oscars ceremony. "The Movie" started late because the basketball game ran late and, quite possibly, this impacted the number of potential viewers as well. It should also be taken into consideration that "The Movie" has aired twice on CourtTV since its original airing on NBC in February 2000.

Speaking for myself, I am not now, nor will I ever be, -over- "Homicide". I continue to watch the reruns and the occasional marathon sessions on CourtTV and I look forward to seeing the May 22 release of the DVD of "The Movie". I hope that rest of the series will be released on DVD SOON.

Lisa de Moraes: Yes, pookie, but it died. A terrible, terrible ratings death Sunday night and NBC was very disappointed in the numbers. I haven't checked the Web site to see how the action's going....have you?

Bethesda, Md.: Hi Lisa,

Thanks for bringing to everyone's attention what a ridiculous double standard MTV and the other networks are using by refusing to air the PETA ad. They'll show commercials for condoms showing real people, but apparently kitty puppets are too risque. What a bunch of hooey!

Lisa de Moraes: If you guys haven't seen the ad yet, check it out on the Web. It's a hoot! I hope they convince some network to air it...

Washington D.C.: Ding Dong the Witch is Dead. And her minion Amber should be close behind her. Should make for a whole new ballgame, but now all of the obvious villains are gone. Who are you hoping goes next?

Lisa de Moraes: Hoping Jerri's shadow Amber goes next. She must be punished for being so uninteresting....

Washington, D.C.: I don't like the way the editors manipulate our emotions by creating "good" or "bad" characters and only showing scenes that reinforce that phony image. I am not saying that Jerri was not completely annoying but there were probably moments when she was relatively nice.

Lisa de Moraes: Yeah, like when she was sleeping. On "The Early Show" she claimed she was made to look bad by the editing but editing did not make virtually every single contestant say that they did not like her. Even Rodger had something un-nice to say about her and Rodger loves everybody! Her degree of not getting it-ness on "The Early Show" today was fab....

Toledo Ohio: What will it take for a major network to get lower ratings than the XFL on NBC? Network honchos have given up even trying to spin the situation.

Lisa de Moraes: Running test pattern for three hours on Saturday night is what it would take for a broadcast network to do a lower number than NBC is now doing with XFL. There's a point at which spinning is futile. NBC has reached that point. They've switched to job saving mode...

Silver Spring: Boot camp was pretty good. I actually got a warm feeling at the part when the pig farmer made it through the 7 mi. run. Pretty inspiring. But she ends up with a groin pull. ouchy!

Lisa de Moraes: That was't a 7 mile run. They only made it look like a 7 mile run. It was a 1.5 mile run. Or that's what they said. I couldn't believe how much huffing and puffing was going on. How are these guys going to make it through weeks of boot camp?

Washington, D.C.: I'm so sick of people patting themselves on the back for never watching Survivor. The show is great entertainment, PERIOD!!! These idiots should get off their high-horses and let their hair down.

Lisa de Moraes: I'm with you on this one -- except for the idiot thing of course....

FYI/Boot Camp: The military may have come off looking pretty bad, but my husband went through Army Boot Camp and says that part of it was realistic. At least now they aren't supposed to touch you.

Lisa de Moraes: That was an interesting note, when they could not touch the contestant! I wish the contestants had known they could touch the drill guys but they couldn't touch back. That might have made for some interesting TV moments. Personally I would have swatted the guy with the really big mouth and attitude had I been one of those contestants and been armed with that information.

Rockville: Are there any plans to do another Temptation Island?

Lisa de Moraes: Yup....coming your way some sweeps soon....

Tysons Corner, Va.: As a longtime fan of "Friends," I am truly saddened to announce that is is time for it to get voted off. It has fallen a very long way from where it used to be - a witty trendsetting comedy - to a formulaic, ordinary sitcom. Bad, bad, bad.

Lisa de Moraes: I agree. After not watching it for a while, due to Survivor, and then going back, you realize how tired it is. It still has some really good moments, but it's tired out. Usually on a show that old they've introduced some new characters by now to give writers someone new to bounce stories off of, but they never did on this show.

Toledo Ohio: If one assumes that the writer's strike actually DOES occur, are we doomed to reruns, "reality," and (gulp) reruns of reality shows? Or news? Wall to wall Dateline-20/20-48 Hours?

Lisa de Moraes: You're in for a lot of reality programming, feature film broadcasts, newsmagazines and scripted show reruns...sorry....

Vienna, Va.: Indeed, her degree of "not-gettingness" (great word) defied belief. But even more unbelievable was the male anchor's star-struck-little-boy comment at the end of the interview, "Gee, you really are a nice lady!" Puh-leeze.

So, who for the final two, Lisa?

Lisa de Moraes: I know. Those he and Jane ought to be reprimanded for the way they treated Jerri. I hope Bryant does the job when he returns....they were sickening. How about Jane constantly touching Jerri, calling her "my girl" and Hi-5-ing her. Yuck!

Alexandria, Va.: I think Colby is a great American hero for refusing to give it up to Jerri. She wanted him so bad she was drooling, but he just dislikes her so much he refused to touch her. A lesser man, such as myself, would have slept with her and THEN voted her off.

Lisa de Moraes: I'm only sorry you weren't one of the contestants on the show! I'm hoping Colby makes it to the final 2. He has been one of the fun surprises of the show. Everyone thought he was a dumb clod early on, but he's turned out to be a great manipulator of people....

Toledo, Ohio: I enjoy reading your columns, but I wonder what type of training/qualification/background one need to become a TV reviewer? Looks like a good gig.

Lisa de Moraes: It is. You have to have a PhD in Television and have watched at least 5 million hours of television. It also helps if you had been punished at least a dozen times in your childhood for watching TV when you were supposed to be doing homework. Editors really like that....

Annapolis: Hate Kieth? Never...I'm pulling for him to win.

Amber, certainly (though she looked good last night in the reward challenge...). After her, Nick, I suppose, though the rest are either likable or just sort of blah.

No one could inspire revulsion the way Jerri could. I hated Rich on S1, but you at least had to admire his "manipulativeness." Jerri was just loathsome...I'm ecstatic she's gone, I can't believe it took them this long to give her the boot, and I wish she was still around to hate.

Lisa de Moraes: I'm pretty sick of Keith and his stupid designer cooking pan. I turned on him when he pinched the matches to impress the girls (he thought) at the other tribe when they did that tribe exchange....

Editing, my foot!: I've heard every booted contestant say that editing creates the good/bad personas of the people involved. However, editing can only go so far and Jerry actually said something along the lines of "I know what they're eating back at camp and I don't care." They might edit some things out but they can't put words in their mouths.

Lisa de Moraes: That would be correct.....

Alexandria, Va.: I like the Boot Camp idea of when you are voted out, you get to drag an enemy along with you! For us TV fans, I'd like to see
a Prisoner-esque show where they try to escape, and have to guess who "Number 1" is.
I also wish Survivor III had only 1 tribe - 2 tribes only makes the voting more predictable.

Lisa de Moraes: I agree that the two tribe setup is problematic when they merge because you know that every time the contestants are going to be inclined to vote tribe lines. However, this week's show was all the more fun because the Okakor tribe members hated Jerri so very much they voted her out, which was not in their own best interest and there's a million dollars at stake here. And she blames editing for making her look bad. I say last night's vote says it all...

Rockville, Md.: Why was voting Jerri off a poor tactical move? Not only do the Ogakors still have a majority over the Kuchas, but actually, I believe that continuing to pick off the Kuchas before dumping Jerri could have ended up screwing Tina and Keith. Say that Nick, Elisabeth, and Rodger were voted off in the last episode and the two episodes after that. Then we would have been left with the Jerri/Amber alliance and the Tina/Keith alliance... and Colby. From Tina and Keith's perspective, they could be in danger, because should Colby side with Jerri and Amber after all (he's been flip flopping throughout the whole show, and it would be to his advantage to end up as one of the final two with either Jerri or Amber, because he'd surely be picked by the jury), Tina and Keith would never make it to the final three.

So, the solution is to break up the Jerri/Amber alliance by ousting Jerri. I think it was a strategic move as well.

What do you think?

Lisa de Moraes: I think you just gave me a headache....

Washington, D.C.: Do you think the hidden trend in reality TV is "abuse other people?" Survivor, Boot Camp, Weakest Link, Temptation Island... the central premise always seems to be to take normal people and vilify them.

Lisa de Moraes: I don't think "Survivor" is about abusing people. It's about group dynamic. "Temptation Island" is about selling sex. And "Boot Camp" is about...well, I don't know yet, having only seen one episode.

Washington, D.C.: Thanks to feminists and also the USMC DI scandals in the 1970s, DI cannot touch any recruits without permission (fixing the salute, putting the button back, etc).

Lisa de Moraes: Wow, kind of like public school. Who knew.....

Seattle, Washington: Hey, about that coral from the reef -- isn't that illegal? I believe I read somewhere that the fish, etc. including the coral on the Great Barrier Reef are protected. So did they actually go to the Great Barrier Reef? Or some other reef?

Lisa de Moraes: They said they were going to GBR but who knows. Wouldn't that be fun if they did break the law. Then the Australian authorities would have THREE things to investigate on this show: the alleged pig set up, the military plane ride at the beginning of the show that cost the Aust. govmt $150,000 or something like that, and the pilfering of coral...

Pookie again: So what happens when the Real World comes back on MTV this summer? Will anyone care, since no one's being voted off every week?

Also, your thoughts on Boot Camp?

Lisa de Moraes: I think "Real World" is over for many reasons, starting with the fact that nobody is really being spontaneous on the show any more. Everyone is playing to the camera and strategizing how to make it to Hollywood. It was a fun idea....time to move on....

Let's All Hate....: TINA!

Yes, I know she was instrumental in getting Jerri booted, but now that she's served her purpose, can we just get rid of the whining passive agressive ick-inducing gal?

Lisa de Moraes: One vote for Tina....

Rockville, Md.: Is that Tina really only 40 years old? I wonder about that...

Lisa de Moraes: If Tina needed to be 40 to get the producers to cast her, then as far as I'm concerned, she's 40, by gum.

Arlington, Va.: 2 best moments of last night's episode:

1. Colby grabbing the back of Jerri's shorts and pulling her through the hanging tire, then letting her fall to the ground.

2. Colby pulling Jerri over the wall by the back of her pants, then letting her fall to the ground.

Hooray for Schadenfreude!!! (or however you spell that dang word)

Lisa de Moraes: I'm with you. There was dislike in every move....I'm gonna miss the whole Jerri loves Colby thing.....

Towson, Md.: Lisa, So what are Jerri's plans to cash in on her "fame?" anything solid yet? Or is she just going to go back to Hooters?

Lisa de Moraes: Want to bet she'll turn up on some CBS show or, better yet, made-for-TV movie about an abused woman who decides to fight back ....

Colby is not so smart: Check out "The Smoking Gun" for a police report of a drunken Colby found in a pool of his own vomit (yeech).

washingtonpost.com: Et voila, The Smoking Gun.

Lisa de Moraes: Ick! (goody!)

I hate Jerri too, BUT:: When Alicia was interviewed post-expulsion (sob, I wanted her to win), even she said they made Jerri out to seem way worse than she really was. Also, what do they do after they are voted off but have to remain for the final vote - they must have been sequestered somewhere and it can't have been too much fun...but at least they had food!

Lisa de Moraes: Maybe they sent them to Club Med to hang out with Michael until the final vote.....

washingtonpost.com: 1. Schadenfreude: gloat malicious joy malicious-joy malicious pleasure 2. Schadenfreude [f,sg] verspόren to laugh on the other side of one's face

Arlington, Va.: You hit the nail on the head - poor tactical move, demonstrating how much they really can't stand her. So: who's your pick to win at this point?

Lisa de Moraes: I'm hoping for Rodger. I've decided to quit trying to figure it all out and just root for the good guy.....Smart vote, however is probably on Colby, dont you think? ..

Arlington, Va.: I heard Mark Burnnet on Howard Stern this morning. What an ass! (Mark, not Howard).

Lisa de Moraes: Missed it. What did he say?

Reston, Va.: I have been told that Alicia did not deny to reporters the rumor that Geri and Jeff Probst are/were involved. Have you heard anything? And who is your pick to be voted off? I believe (and hope) it will be Amber. She was just Geri's sheep.

Lisa de Moraes: It would mean that Jeff Probst is an alarmingly bad judge of character... I no nothing about this....

Southwest Washington: Another PETA question. Their cute, cheap ad with the singing cows was turned down by CBS for the SuperBowl because it was supposed to be an advocacy ad. But I thought that I saw other advocacy ads for the environment, etc. during the game. Is there something about PETA itself that makes TV networks nervous?

Lisa de Moraes: Networks typically do not take advocacy ads, like the pro-choicead you may have seen lately. Usually when you see such ads, the group has bought the time from the local station, not from the network. Stations are given so many ads per show to sell themselves...They are less cautious about what they will take.....

Detroit: 'Scuse my typing, I fell in the fire, I mean, hot csramel and burned dingertips.

In response ro the one who said ir was because of feminists that drill seargeants cannot touch recruits without permission. Thank you feminists. There's a case of a practical contribution by feminism. Of course, physical intimidation is so much worse than verbal avuse.

I really cannor rype well wirh one hand.

Lisa de Moraes: Aren't you the cutest!

Virginia Beach, Va.: Hi Lisa,

We make a big deal each week of the ratings, but how much does it really matter? If NBC is in last place due to the XFL tanking, would this really effect the ad price on friends? Is it just bragging rights, or is the bottom line of other programs affected by the overall ratings race?

Lisa de Moraes: If NBC is losing large amounts of money on Saturday night, it affects its ability to shell out obscene amounts of money to bring back "Frasier" and "Friends" for more seasons, etc. This isn't just about one show tanking. It's about a whole night tanking...

Two Tribes: What if in the next survivor, the tribes were forced to trade members prior to the merge?
Maybe by vote - then alliances could be broken up, and it would harder to do the tribe-upmanship thing.

Lisa de Moraes: That would be interesting....

Arlington, Va.: I saw an ad for a movie (a Rob Schneider movie, but still a movie) that includes the lovely and talented Colleen, from S1. Didn't she, like, NOT want to go to Hollywood and the show was only a lark? I think it's great we don't see much of the others, but she keeps popping up!

Lisa de Moraes: They may say that initially, but once they've drunk the Kool Aid, the all want to become Hollywood stars...Virtually everyone who was on "Survivor," "Big Brother," "Temptation Island" and you name it is in Los Angeles looking for an agent or an acting gig....

Richmond, Va.: I'd like to see Roger win. I know Colby has the edge, but let's hear it for someone who is kind, intellegent, and knows how to play the game.

Lisa: How about getting Tina out of there? And is Elisabeth a bit TOO sweet?

Lisa de Moraes: Richmond, you are so jaded. Elisabeth is cute...but I'd like to see Rodger win, if only to make the CBS execs think twice about stacking the show again with young hot bods instead of an intersting mix of people you never see elsewhere on TV like they did on the first "Survivor."

Biloxi, Miss.: Do you believe the "Big Apple" will survive? Ed O'Neill is very good but the show is very dark and complex.

Lisa de Moraes: The ratings are embarassing. This show's a goner...

Washington, D.C.: Who's the bad guy with regards to this writer strike?

Lisa de Moraes: There are so very many issues involved in both possible strikes -- writers and actors -- that's it's really difficult to say anyone is the real bad guy overall. I'm not trying to avoid the question. I do think writers have legit issues with regard to control over their work and whether and when directors should get credit for "presenting" a movie, etc...

Depressed:
Three words: Big Brother Two...

Lisa de Moraes: I know, but they've brought in a new executive producer, Arnold Shapiro, who is at least more familiar with American TV than those Endemol guys and viewers can no longer do the voting, which is a very good thing. For some reason, viewers kept ousting all the controversial/interesting people then complained that the show was boring. Can't have it both ways, guys!

Burke, Va.: Lisa,

About your earlier answer to the "Homicide" question. Did Homicide die or was it an assisted suicide? It was constantly jerked around on the schedule so it never got any chance to be truly consistent. It was a vicious cycle -- poor ratings so the network felt free to play with the schedule so the show never got any sense of momentum. It made it hard to plan your Friday nights around the show if you didn't know if it would be on from week to week. The same with "Sports Night" on NBC. I understand it's a business, but why damage your own product?

Lisa de Moraes: NBC had a big ownership stake in this show and I don't think they killed it on purpose. Of course, execs there are perfectly capable of killing a show by accident. Which they did....

Towson, Md.: Do you think that BIg Apple is worth saving, a la Homicide? I know nothing compares in quality to the old show, but does Apple have potential?

Lisa de Moraes: Don't get too attached. It's a lost cause on this one....

San Francisco, Calif.: Hey Lisa, I got a non-Survivor question. On USA Today, an article mentioned that "Gideons Crossing," "Once and Again," and "That's Life" are in danger of being canceled. Do you think these shows are victims to their time slots, or did audiences just not warm up to them? Once can certainly debate quality (at least of the third show mentioned), but it seems a shame that good shows are unwatched, while crap like Providence are winning timeslots. I still miss Murder One.

Lisa de Moraes: I do not think these shows are victims of their time slots. I think viewers have given them a pass. Notice how many viewers went to "Gideon's Crossing" when Cameryn Manheim did a crossover appearance, but left the next week. That's rejection....sorry...

Cleveland, Ohio: Watched Survivor and taped Friends...can you believe how FAT Chandler is? Friends is really showing its age. It should have left the air last year. It really sucks.

Lisa de Moraes: Maybe he's hooked on twinkies...His weight does seem to go up every time right before he checks into rehab....

Washington, D.C.: I think you should give an award to the first, uh, "person" who writes in each week, starting out "I've never watched this, but..." and ends by making some grand statement about how the success of a TV show signfies the decline of Western Civilization.

This week's winner appears to be the Einstein from that cultural mecca known as Burke.

Lisa de Moraes: This is a tough crowd!

Rockville, Md.: What about Boot Camp? Will it work or not?

Lisa de Moraes: "Boot Camp" got off to a great start. About 16 million viewers. Fox didn't think it would do as well as "Temptation Island" cause there wasn't as much buzz. They may be in for a pleasant surprise...

Ft.Washington: I think Jerri getting booted off was great!! She was so pressed for Colby..and he doesn't even like her. The funniest part was during the immunity challenge he said she should put the rope around her neck. That was great....don't ya think?!!

Lisa de Moraes: And still, she thought he was sweet on her. This woman has a rich and endless fantasy life....

Like a Honeymoon, But Without...: Who else was guffawing in their TV dinners over that little line? I mean, besides Colby?

Lisa de Moraes: Everyone, I hope. Except, no doubt, Jerri's poor parents, who, she said on "The Early Show" have suffered terribly because America dislikes their daughter so. Jane let that one go by too without sugggesting to Jerry that just maybe she is the teensy weensy-iest bit responsible for that...I've run way over my time. See you....
