Starbite of the week:
The Sun changes signs today moving from Cancer into Leo. Since Leo energy is optimistic and expansive, expect a new rush of energy in any part of your chart transited by this glorious Sun in Leo. So, for example, if Sun in Leo moves over your 4th house of home and family, you might expect that the next 32 days or so will be filled with opportunities to spend time with your family, entertain at home or do something wonderful and special around the house. So where is the Sun in Leo moving in your chart??
Now let’s get to your great questions. Please don’t forget to include your birthdate time and place for all astrology questions.
Rockville, Md.:
During my first Saturn return, age 27-31, I finished grad school, started my first professional job, got married, bought a house and had a baby. I remember thinking at the time that that sure was a lot of stuff going on, but it was pretty much all positive. I'm getting closer now to my second Saturn return, and I'm wondering how your second is typically different from your first?
Charlene Lichtenstein: A great question to launch the show!
The second Saturn Return is usually a "tying up of loose ends" from the first one. Any lessons that need to be refined, anything that we did not fully grasp the first time become the momentum for the second one.
It seems to me that in your first one you learned to set down foundations and set yourself onto the road of maturity and responsibility. It is possible that your second one will give you an opportunity to relax and expand creatively.
Where is Saturn in your natal chart?
Greenbelt, Md.:
This is my first time writing in for advice. I was born June 25, 1970 in the Bronx, NYC at 6:20 p.m. I have been in the D.C. metro area going on a year now and while this year has been one of transition, I still find major parts of my life unresolved. Can you tell me what life has in store for me for the next six months, job, lovelife, etc. Thanks.
Charlene Lichtenstein: Welcome!
Let's see, you have sun in cancer, moon in pisces, mercury in gemini, venus in leo and mars in gemini. Possibly Capricorn rising.
You are basically a very sensitive, caring and spiritual person with a quick mind (mercury in gemini) who can argue effectively (mars in gemini). You are generous and expansive in love (venus in leo).
Expect to work hard in the next six months - Saturn is currently transiting your 6th hosueof work. Also expect to learn quite a bit on the job. Jupiter is currently transiting your 7th hosue of relationships - a happy lucky time for 6+ months - if you make your own luck and get out there and look!
The sun will be moving into virgo on AUgust 24 unleashing your urge to travel. It will also make a great aspect to your natal sun in your 7th hosue so you may meet someone either through travel or by taking a course.
Hope that helps!
Silver Spring, Md.:
I am hoping you will be able to answer my question this chat as I am struggling for some guidance, and I respect and enjoy your perspective. I was born April 6, 1971 at 10:01 p.m. at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C. I am not very satisfied at my job and am wondering if now is a good time to look for something new. Will I ever be fulfilled in my work? Family and social life is great, but work history has been a struggle. Thanks so much.
Charlene Lichtenstein: You are just finishing up your Saturn Return so I think that you will begin to see what you would like to do based on what your experiences have been for the past three years.
You have sun in Aries, moon in leo, mercury in taurus, venus in pisces and mars in capricorn. Possibly Sag rising which places virgo on the cusp of your 10th house of career.
You are a very gutsy and pioneering person (sun in aries) who is careful and methodical thinker (mercury in taurus).
The way you express your love, though is very soft and romantically - quite a different side of you! You also question your actions and are a strategic planner (mars).
With virgo on the cusp of your 10th house, you tend to gravitate to careers where you can serve others and work in the background. Yet with your robust aries sun, you may yearn for a job that enables you to lead and take charge.
August will be a good month for you professionally - the sun moves into your 10th hosue on the 24th and Mercury moves in on the 15th. Plan and talk to people after the 15th, take calcualted action after the 24th - things will fall into place.
ALso, Mars is currently in your 1st house of new things - energy to begin new projects. SO if you apply yourself - this should be a good time to find fulfillment at work - either by staying where you are and changing a few things or by leaving for something better.
Arlington, Va.:
I have been told the number 8 is a sign of turbulent times. I was born on November 26, 1966 in Tokyo, Japan. I was born on an 8, all of my recent addresses (past five years +) have been 8s (1817, 1511 and now 602). Is this for a reason? Am I meant to struggle through life -- or face struggles.
Charlene Lichtenstein: Have you been struggling?
The number 8 is said to be ruled by the planet Saturn which can be a sign for struggle but it is also a sign for prevailing against all odds and overcoming all obstacles.8 is confidence and determination. It is also a hardworking number.
That is the energy you should harness. Good luck and great success!
Fredericksburg, Va.:
I love your show! I have submitted several times, but have not been successful at getting chosen. Here's my question:
How do you see my relationship with my husband of 8 years? Also, do you see any changes in my career in the near future?
Me: 06/18/1970 at 11:23am in Cheverly, Md.
Him: 11/23/1964 at 8:00am in Alexandria, Va.
Thanks!
Charlene Lichtenstein: Thank you for your patience - I get soooo many questions each show so I thank you for trying again.
You have sun and mercury in gemini, venus in leo and moon in sagittarius. Possibly virgo rising which places romantic pisces on the cusp of your 7th house of marriage.
Your husband has sun and mercury in sag, moon in cancer, and venus in libra. Possibly capricorn rising which places cancer on his 7th house.
I see a great deal of energy between the two of you. You have great mental agility and he is frank, open and honest. He is charming in love (libra) and can flatter your venus in leo (which venus in leo loves....).
Both of your 7th houses have romantic, sensitive water signs on the cusp so even with all your air (gemini) and fire (leo and sag) both of you seek a partner who has a certain spiritual and/or mothering connection.
I see great connection here with enough sizzly energy to keep things interesting.
This may be a time of transformations as Pluto is currently transitng sag and squaring/opposing the mutable signs of virgo (your rising sign) pisces (your 7th house), and gemini (your sun and mercury). Pluto brings change where change is needed in any area of your life that needs a change.
Flagstaff, Ariz.:
Good evening, Charlene,
I've recently moved West with my boyfriend and we have encountered a few obstacles along the way. Can you tell me what this move will mean for us? I was born on 2/12/69 in Mobile, Ala. at 1 a.m.; he was born 3/12/67 in California (sorry, I'm not sure of the time ... )
Thanks! I hope you'll be able to take my question ...
Charlene Lichtenstein: I would like to run a relocation chart for you so see what snags are popping up. A relocation chart uses your actual date and time of birth with the new location as your birthplace. Can you tell me where in the west you are now living? I'll run it and get back to you next week.
Washington, D.C.:
Him: 4:31 a.m., Nov. 26, 1963, Washington, D.C.
Dear Madam Lichtenstein: I am asking a question for my boyfriend, since he knows nothing about astrology. My boyfriend has been looking for a new job for months, after he quit his telecomm company in mid- April. He started to look for jobs more seriously in early July. I want to know when he can find a new job and start working?
Charlene Lichtenstein: He has sun in sag, mercury in sag, venus and mars in sag. Wow. Lot's of sag. Possibly Scorpio rising which places all that sag in his 2nd house of money and finances.
With scorp rising, he now has energetic mars transitng his second house and hitting all his sag planets so I would say that there is a financial fire under him! Also, the sun and mercury are now transiting his 10th house of career. He should pur on the effort - mercury moves on on the 15th and the sun on the 24th turning his attention to friends and social groups.
I would say that if he puts in the effort, August looks like a likely month to settle into something great.
Washington, D.C.:
Dearest Charlene,
I send you my regards from beautiful Greece, where I arrived late last week from D.C. for my holidays.
I am a Virgo with Leo rising sun (Sept. 1, 1970, 4.25 a.m., Greece) and I have turned to you many times in the past. My career decisions are very crucial at this point and I will be probably face a big dilemma towards the end of August, before I go back to the U.S.
But something really unexpected happened just after I got in Athens and it might be added in he list of factors effecting my final decision. I ran into an "almost" boyfriend, the only person who could have prevented me from leaving my country last year. There never was anything between us, but I have always felt there could be. Now I ran into him in a construction site (he is a civil engineer) just as I was walking in the streets of Athens. We had lost touch since last September. Do you believe in coincidences? He is a Scorpio (Oct. 24, 1967, Athens, Greece).
I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing your answer.
Thank you in advance,
Charlene Lichtenstein: I don't really believe in coincidences....!
Okay let's see, you have sun and moon in virgo and venus in libra. He has sun in libra (a good match to your venus - the planet of love), moon in cancer and venus in virgo ( a good match to your virgo planets).
You are attracted to attractive partners and can be very charming and kind in a love relationship. Generally though you are fairly no-nonsense so when you are in love, you are a different person. He is very attractive and charming in general so I can see that you are drawn to him. He loves to be cuddled and can be sensitive emotionally. Yet he can be rather practical (and earthy) when he is in love. You understand that so this looks like a very nice match.
Let me know how it goes! Enjoy Greece!
Rockville, MD:
Dear Charlene,
Hi, if traveling on your birthday makes a difference in your chart, why wouldn't simply living elsewhere other than the location where you were born? For example, through an online site that offers free chart diagrams (but almost no interpretation) I have entered my birth information for both my place of birth, and where I live now using the same original time for both which means that the current location is adjusted for time changes. (i.e. If one was born at 12:00 pm in California, then the time would be calculated as 3:00 pm for the New York chart.) In doing this, the chart is different. I have a different rising sign, my sun is in a different house, etc. The changes I feel in myself from then to now seem to match up surprisingly well. Of course living in a new place changes a person, but why wouldn't living away from your birth location have the same effect on your chart as traveling? Thank you for your thoughts on this.
P.S. Hope you had a really nice vacation.
Charlene Lichtenstein: You are absolutely right. There are solar return travelling charts (for travelling on your birthday and then returning to your place of residence) and there are relocation charts (which are calculated to measure how well you will do in a place other than your birth place).
Your natal chart with your original place of birth is always the "marker" - the original interpreter of your basic personality but you are correct - living in a place that is not the city of your birth will imapct the movement of your chart.
Washington, D.C.:
Hi, my name is Michael and I was born in Lewes, Del. on November 12, 1978 at 12:03 p.m.
I was wondering about a scar that I have in-between my eyes -- located where a unibrow would connect if I had one. I am certain I got the scar as a child from picking a "chicken-pock". It seemed to be the only one I picked.
Strangely enough, my mother, one brother, and two neices have picked one in the same spot and nowhere else. So, we all have a scar in the same place that we got during childhood.
I am just curious if there is any other explantion besides a genetic predisposition to picking at that spot as a child.
Kind Regards.
Charlene Lichtenstein: Environment???
Denver, Colo.:
Hello Charlene,
I am enjoying your column. I was born (male) on March 16, 1957, 1 a.m. in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada. I think I was born with Mars rising. Can you tell me first, is this true and second what kind of person this makes me? What kinds of pitfalls do I need to avoid during my life? Thanks for your kind attention.
Charlene Lichtenstein: Thank you.
Let's see, you have sun, mercury and venus in pisces and mars in taurus. Possibly sag or capricorn rising.
I'm not sure what you mean by mars rising. It may mean that you have mars in your first house, but I doubt it. Who told you about "mars rising"?
You are very spiritual, creative and romantic with all that piscean energy in your chart. These pisces planets may be in your 4th house of family. Is your home a dreamy center of inspiration and fun?
WIth mars in taurus, you can also be very determined and persevering. It is an excellent compliment to all the pliable pisces planets in your chart. You have a toughness that people don't often see right away.
One top of mind pitfall is not to allow yourself to be swayed by others. Pisces sometimes give too much of themselves to please others. Rely on your strong mars energy to take control of your life and get things that you deserve.
How's that?
Washington, D.C.:
Good evening, Charlene -- what an illuminating
chat! I have a cusp question for you. I was
born on 8/23/72 at approx. 8:30 p.m. and am
terribly confused as to WHAT I AM!! I've
been told alternately that I'm a Virgo, a Leo
and a true Levirgian. Most recently, a
fellow at the Sword and the Rose in SF said
he thought I was a Virgo. Still, I am not
convinced . . . I don't really feel like a
true blue 100% Virgo. I'd be ever so
grateful for your insight!
Charlene Lichtenstein: Thanks for joining in!
Well, according to my ephemeris, you are a 29 degree (out of 30) Leo. That settles that. You also have moon in aquarius, mercury in leo, venus in cancer and mars in virgo.
No wonder you are confused - your basic personality is leo and you think and communicate (mercury) like a leo. But your actions (mars) are very Virgo. I say that is good - leos display condifence and bravado and seek accoloades. Virgo likes to get the job done. SO you have a nice mixture of grand scheme and master builder. You envision the sky and have the wherewithal to get there. An excellent combo.
Silver Spring, Md.:
Hi, I was born 11/14/67 in Baltimore City, Md. (Baltimore City Hospital) at 12:45 p.m. I have had a few bad years recently am experiencing a desire to socialize more and "put myself out there" but I have a low self-esteem level. I recently met online a guy who wants to meet in person, but, I am very hesitant. Of course, cautious, but moreso because of fear of rejection than fear or harm to myself (I would take several precautions if I ever decided to meet him). Anyway , he's from Pennsylvania and I'm wondering if I should come out of my shell, if it is in the stars for me to do so.
Thanks in advance!
Charlene Lichtenstein: The stars are best used as a guidemap to help you achieve success and happiness - not as an excuse to prevent you from taking a calculated risk at happiness.
SO that being said, you have sun (personality) in intense and sensual scorpio, moon (emotions) in robust and pioneering aries and venus (love) in charming and diplomatic libra. Possibly aquarius rising which places leo (grand, generous and magnanimous) on the cusp of your 7th house of relationships.
Gee, I don't see where all this low self esteem is coming from - you have fire and passion through your love and emotional planets.
Take those precautions and take a chance. WHat do you have to lose?
PS SO what is this guy's birth information??
Flagstaff again:
Hi Charlene,
Thanks for taking my question, and going to the extra trouble to run a relocation chart. Now I feel silly ... we used to live in the D.C. area, but are now in San Diego. His family had some objections to our moving, so I tried to "disguise" my question in case any of them were tuning in to your discussion. Silly, I know ...
Thanks again for taking my question - I'm looking forward to hearing your insight!
Charlene Lichtenstein: So you are in Flagstaff now and moving to San DIego? Okay - let me have a look for next week. Please resubmit with the reminder that I said I woudl look at your relocation chart.
Thanks!
Washington, D.C.:
Love the chats! My d.o.b is 11/20/75 at 2:58 p.m. in Cleveland, Ohio (female) and although I feel fairly content with most aspects of my life, (such as good jobs, good friends, loving relatives) I seem to always fail miserably with intimate relationships. Is there any hope in the future for a turn around? Thanks so much!
Charlene Lichtenstein: Well let's look at your planets - you have sun in scorpio, moon (emotions) gemini and venus (love) in libra. Possibly pisces rising which places careful and conservative virgo on the cusp of your 7th house of relationships.
I don't see why you fail unless you are choosing the wrong type of person. You are a very intense and strategic persona;lity (sun) but can be less serious, more airy and platonic in love and emotionally. This may seem like a disconnect to those who do not know you well. You always seem so serious, except in love!
The sun will be transiting your 7th hosueon August 24th suggesting a good time to get out there and look for a partner. Jupiter is also now sitting in your 5th house of romance - lucky! So do something fun or creative - you never know who you might meet. Most improtant, be yourself - inconsistnecies and all. You will meet the right person!
New Orleans, La.:
Hello, Charlene,
I just stumbled upon your live advice column and find it quite interesting. I would like advice on long-distance love and WHEN marriage should happen for the both of us.
He was born on July 24, 1965 (don't know time) in Kayes, Mali, and I was born May 19, 1974 between 8 & 9 pm in Queens, N.Y.
Also, what do you recommend for my career? I'm currently an environmental policy student from Maryland on an internship (going well) in New Orleans. Thanks so much for taking questions!
Charlene Lichtenstein: Let me get to your second question.....
New Orleans, La.:
Hello, Madam Charlene,
I just submitted the query about long distance relationships, 5/19/74 & 7/24/65. By the way, my boyfriend who was born in Mali STILL IS in Mali. Not sure if that was clear.
Also, I just wanted to know if you could provide more specifics on cusps. As I am born on the 19th, and my boyfriend was born on the 24th, sometimes it's hard to tell what astrological creatures we're dealing with.
Could you please expound upon your discussion of cusps or inform me of a past column or a Web site ( or a person!) where I could get more info?
Much obliged.
Charlene Lichtenstein: 5/19/74 is solidly in taurus (at 27 out of 30 degrees). 7/24/65 is zero degrees leo (I would like to run his chart becasue the time of birth would come into play here....).
You have sun in taurus, moon in aries and venus in aries.
He has venus in leo. WIth your aries planets and his leo sun and venus, you two are an excellent fiery match! Lots of energy and spirit here. There is great excitement between the two of you.
A discussion of cusps is a great idea. I can't think of a good column on it offhand, but I promise to address it in my introductory starbites at the beginning of the show.
Cusp folks usually have a bit of the energy of both signs and may have other personal planets (moon, venus, mercury and mars) in the sign that is in one or the other of the cusp signs. More to follow on other shows!
Charlene Lichtenstein: Whew!
We have run out of time. Thanks for all your great questions and please join me next week for another edition of Starry Eye. 7pm on Monday August 6.
Until then,
happy stargazing!
