The Starry Eye Astrologer
Hosted by Charlene Lichtenstein
Special to washingtonpost.com

Monday, April 9, 2001; 7 p.m. EST

What is your horoscope? Do you want to know what the planets and heavenly bodies have aligned this year -- in your career, in romance or surprises in your daily life? Tonight at 7 p.m. EST, "Madam" Lichtenstein, took your questions on sun signs, lunar influences and all things in the stars.

Madam Lichtenstein's skills run in the family. Her great aunt, Etta Weimar, was the famous Romanian card reader to both kings and queens. A native of New York City, Lichtenstein was educated in Europe where she pursued the study of tarot and astrology. She returned to New York in 1974 and has lived in Greenwich Village ever since, dispensing advice whether requested or not.

Lichtenstein's monthly and weekly astrology columns are carried in newspapers across the country. When not writing or working on her Web site, AccessNewAge.com/zscope, Lichtenstein offers private consultation. She is a member of the National Council of Geocosmic Research and often lectures on both astrology and tarot.

Wondering how Mercury in retrograde affects your day-to-day life? What eclipses means for you and your loved ones? How to get in touch with your rising sign?

Below is a transcript.

Starbite of the week:
When people ask us “our sign” we tend to respond with our sun sign – that is the sign that the sun was in on the day you were born. But we have more than just a sun sing - every planet was in a sign on the day of our birth. While our sun sign represents our basic personality and our personal goals and wishes in life, other planets in signs are as follows:

Moon sign – indicates how we express our emotions. Moon in Cancer for example is sensitive and caring.
Mercury sign – how we communicate. Mercury in Gemini for example indicates a quick witted conversationalist.
Venus sign – how we express love. Venus in Scorpio? Intense and passionate.
Mars sign – how we fight. Mars in Aquarius? Passive aggressive.
And if you also consider Saturn (where we feel less secure), Jupiter (where we feel lucky), Neptune (where we have foggy thinking or where we are creative), Uranus (surprises) and Pluto (inner volcanic power, where we transform ourselves), we can begin to see a whole personality profile emerge that goes beyond the Sun Sign.

Motto: You have to look at the entire chart with all the planets!

And now let’s see your excellent questions.

Fairfax, Va.: Madam Lichtenstein,

I've read many of your chats and have found them very interesting. I'm wondering if you can tell me anything about myself. A lot has happened in the last two years and I'm hoping that things will settle down to a more normal nature! I was born July 31, 1969 at 10:04am.

Thank you very much in advance!

Charlene Lichtenstein: Thank you.
Well, let's check your planets - you have sun (basic personality) in Leo, Moon (emotions) in Pisces, mercury (thoughts and communications) in Leo, Venus (love) in gemini and mars (how you exert energy and fight) in sagittarius. Probably Libra rising which makes you very charming and charismatic when folks first meet you.

You have a sunny personality and think in grand terms. People gravitate to you. Youcan be a bit less passionate (and loyal) in love but there is a great romantic streak to you with your moon in hopelessly romantic Pisces.

What is probably hitting your chart is volcanic pluto which is traniting sagittarius and impacting your energetic Mars. In fact, pluto is making some great aspects to many of your personal planets so the chagnes may have been dramtic and sudden but there were all for the best - pluto is change when change is needed for the most part.

Emotionally however, it is squaring your moon so even though you know these chagnes are good, it is still emotionally frazzling.

Pluto takes a while to move on so expect the next few years to bring a continuation of change but to a lesser degree.

Fairfax, Va.: I'm 29. My birthday is 4/24/72 in Fayetteville, N.C. at 11:30 p.m. Just wondering what you see for me in terms of finding love this year.

Charlene Lichtenstein: 29 eh? Right in the middle of your Saturn Return which is a three year period from ages 27-30 of change, stress and frustration. Plewase read more about the Saturn return period at www.AccessNewAge.com/zscope.

That being said, you have sun in taurus, moon in virgo and venus, the planet of love in gemini.

I would say that this year will be a time of experimentation but maybe not a year of lasting love. I see romance that sweeps you off your feet as Saturn transits your venus which sits in your 5th house of art and romance. But it is trip to the moon on gossamer wings. Learn from this experience. Once you turn 30, you will be well prepared to recognize what you wnat and do not want in a partner.

Denver, Colo.: I was born 08/06/79 at 10:50 a.m. in CO Springs, CO. I was premature (full term would have been around 09/17) and was delivered using a C-section. Does either of these factors affect astrology? The C-section was scheduled by the doctors rather than by my mother actually being in labor. She had gone into pre-mature labor in May and they had been able to prevent it. They felt Aug. was a safe time for mother and child. Thanks for the insight!

Charlene Lichtenstein: A very interesting question- thank you.

There is great discussion as to the impact of a C section on the chart. I for one believe that when you were born, despite the method, indicates the chart. You have lots of sunny Leo in your chart - sun, mercury and venus. You also have moon in capricorn and mars in gemini. So with all your fiery Leo energy, there is a nice earthy complement with your emotions and a nice airy flow in how you exert energy (mars in gemini). You also probably have Libra rising placing a great deal of your leo planets in the 11th house of friends. Are friends especially important to you?

Your moon in careful Capricorn may indicate a gloomy outlook but it can also mean careful, loyal and dedicated emotions. (Especially as you get older) This is wonderful becasue the Leo energy can make you a bit flirtatious.

Now there no telling when you would have been born had the c section not taken place. Had it been 9/17 (time unknown) where you have Leo you would have had Virgo. More cautious, conservative and servicing. But who knows?

Miami, Fla.: I was finally able to find some biographical info re: Dick Cheney. He was born January 30, 1941 in Lincoln, Neb.

Could you please look into his chart and let us know what is in store for him, especially as it relates to his medical condition.

Will he serve out his term as Vice President. Thanks.

Charlene Lichtenstein: Thanks for your research - I wish I had his birth time though - without the birth time, I cannot calculate the ascendant so I don't know which signs are on the cusp of his house of health etc.

VP CHeney has sun in aquarius, moon in pisces, mercury in aquarius, venus in capricorn and mars in sagittarius. I would say that he has an expansive outlook (aquarius) and can see many sides of each issue. He is an impactful debater and thinker. Emotionally he may be a bit of a romantic (moon in pisces) and yet is careful in his display of love (capricorn). He would be attracted to someone very well established, perhaps wealthier or who has greater status.

Pluto is transiting Sagittarius for the next few years which will nicely aspect his sun (personal mission in life) and mercury (communication). But it will square his moon so there may be some emotional impact from all of this. It will also conjucnt his mars so some of his actions may not go the way he plans.

Hope that sheds some light - I would still love to get his birthtime. Anyone out there with it??

Fort. Washington, Md.: I am a female and my birthdate is 1/20/67 and I was born at 1:58 a.m. What does my future look like for my career, love (marriage, kids, etc.) and finances?

Charlene Lichtenstein: Let's see, you have sun in capricorn, moon in taurus, mercury in aquarius, venus in aquairius, and mars in libra. Probably Scorpio rising which places Leo on the cusp of your tenth house of career and taurus on the cusp of your 7th house of partnerships.

You would do well with a career that brings you into the limelight and where you feel appreciated. In relationships you like to feel the loyalty and are very trusting.

This APril, the sun is entering your 7th house of the 21st bringing great optimism in relationships. Saturn, the planet of difficulties is moving into your 8th house of sex on the 21st but what this can mean is that the lessons you learned about relationships, can be applied with great success now. It may also indicate an older lover or one who is wealthier or more established. Jupiter is already transitng this house so I see more opportunities than problems!

WHile transitng Mars (energy) is aspecting the top of your chart (though APril into May), efforts in your career will pay off big.

So what are you waiting for?

Falls Church, Va.: I'd like to get a reading on possible children for my fiance and myself. I was born Feb. 20, 1976 at 6am and he was born March 13, 1976 at 9 am.

Charlene Lichtenstein: You have sun in pisces, venus in aquarius.
He has sun in pisces, venus in aquarius too.

But you probably have pisces rising which places cancer on the cusp of your fifth house of romance and children while he has Aries/Taurus rising placing Leo/Virgo on that hosue.

You are especailly nurturing around children while he just loves to play with them but is not interested in dealing with the nitty gritty day to day stuff. He is not adverse but he may tink that they are a great deal of work. This does not phase you but an agreement as to who does what would have to be set forth in advance to make sure that no one feels that they are doing the bulk of the work and the other doign the bulk of the play.

Does this sound familiar?

Ashburn, Va.: I was born 6/20/1962 at 6:07 in New York City and am debating a change in careers. I have a number of great opportunities but in they're in all in extremely diverse directions.

Any suggestions as to what the best route is for me to take?

Thanks

Charlene Lichtenstein: I would need your birth time (am or pm?) to see what is going on on your 10th house cusp of career. Can you please resubmit the entire question with the full birth time and I'll have alook.

McLean, Va.: Hi Charlene,

I'm a Gemini, born June 3, 1976 at 3:15 p.m. in Washington, D.C. I'm about to make a big life change: I'm uprooting and moving to a new city. What can you tell me about my career prospects?

Charlene Lichtenstein: Which city - I would like to examine your birthdate and time with the new city location. From that chart I can give you an idea of the opportunities and challenges in yournew town.

Detroit, Mich.: Hi Charlene,
My birthday is 11/22/55, 11:44 a.m. est and my SO is 5/9/58, 3:01 CST.
We have had a lot of unsettling changes over the last two years including three moves and several different jobs. Obviously this has affected our relationship. Is there any relief is sight for us?

Charlene Lichtenstein: You have sun in scorpio, moon in aquarius and venus in sagittarius. Probably aquarius rising which places leo on the cusp of your relationship house. You are generally intense but when it comes to relationships you are grand and loving. You need appreciation and may be less emotional than your sun sign would imply.

Your SO has sun in taurus, venus in aries. Need to know am or pm to get your SO rising sign. In love, your Other is robust and fiery, impulse and pioneering.

For you, last year was full of fixed eclipses (in leo and aquarius which also impacted scorpio and taurus) so I am not surprised by all the changes. I see this passing.

Use this year to set down foundations. The sun will shine in your house of family, home and security on April 21 for the next four weeks- a good time to get things in order around the house.

Lost in Tenn.: Dear Madam,
I've read that Saturn has been in Taurus and that it will be leaving at the end of the month, but I don't exactly know what that means. Being a Taurus (4/23/61, Chicago, Ill. at 7:59 a.m.), how has that affected my life and what changes can I expect? I've already gone through one major change, a marital break-up (husband born 12/22/59 in San Antonio, Tex.) and a job change. Are more changes on the way? Good or bad? Were my husband and I just doomed? Thanks!

Charlene Lichtenstein: Saturn has been in Taurus since June 1998 which has impacted those with sun taurus as well as anyone with other planets in taurus or any of the fixed signs - aquarius, leo and scorpio too.

How you have been impacted depends on where these planets sit in your chart.

You have sun in taurus, moon in leo, mercury in aries, venus in aries and mars in cancer. So the major impact would be on your sun sign. You probably also have Leo rising which places your taurus planet in your 10th house of career. I see breakthroughs in your career now, because you have learned from the tough lessons of the past three years and can now apply them to your advantage.

All changes that have occured in the past three years may be painful but they will be good in the long term. Things that are not working during the Saturn transit must change - and do.

COming up? Saturn is moving into your house of friends nad large social groups. Expect some changes here next. Worthwhile changes.

Southern Md.: Dear Madam: I've been going through a long period of negative experiences and wonder if things will be looking up soon. Not to mention the stock market has scared the bejeepers out of me -- my 401K is doing a nose dive and I may end up sleeping on a steam grate when I retire! I've worked too long and hard to have my money evaporate like that.

My birth info is: Born November 13, 1946 at 3:30 a.m. in Baltimore, Md.

Charlene Lichtenstein: Oh dear! Don't panic!

Guess what - you are enterng your second Saturn Return - every 28 years or so we go through a period of stress and readjustment. You may be feeling the stress and frustration and although you would like to take some constructive action, there is not much that you cna do to change things now.

But there is a silver lining to this SR cloud - you are learning your lessons that you may not have totally finished during your last Saturn Return (ages 27-30). So what were they? Repeat and finish them off.

A lying Leo?: Charlene:

I found out that my boyfriend of 3 years had cheated on me when drinking out with his buddies. He says he has reformed and wants to be with only me. My birthday is 8/11/66 & I was born at 7:30am and his birthday is 8/8/74 and he was born at 3:30pm. Do you see a possibility of a renewed relationship, or are the stars pessimistic?

Charlene Lichtenstein: Well! Let's check his placements:
He has sun in leo, moon in aries and venus in cancer. Probably capricorn rising which places cancer on his 7th house of partnerships and his venus in that house. That makes him relatively truthful and certainly sensitive and caring in love. Emotionally he is robust and pioneering and can be swayed with his leo sun, although he does not mean to hurt anyone.

You have sun in leo, moon in gemini and venus in cancer - you too are very sensitive in love but can be somewhat passive emotionally. With your leo sun, you too seek an appreciative audience. With a virgo ascendant (and pisces on your 7th house of relationships) the question is - can you forgive? or will you eventually seek greener pastures?

Charlene Lichtenstein: Oh dear - that is all the time we have for this week.

I was expecting two questioners from last week - one having to do with a relocation to either LA, Honolulu or Washington DC and the other having to do with "curses" in love relationships. Please send them to me next week and I will be happy to answer them.

And to everyone else who I could not get to tonight - please try again next week, April 16, at 7pm.

Andm as always, Happy Stargazing!
